graduation credits

I'm trying to pick some classes outside of my major to fulfill the 180-unit requirement. I don't need to do any GE or college requirements because I was a transfer last yr. I noticed that some courses don't have a GE "code" but are worth the standard 5 units. I read that the units counted are from "General Education courses, College and University requirements, and your major program of study. Credits can also be earned from a minor program of study, elective, AP/IBH and transfer credit."

I'm kinda worried that if I take a class without a GE code or is outside of my major that it won't be included towards graduation. For example: see Econ 10A. Am I reading into this wrong? Or is it any class worth units counted?
thanks

As far as I know, as long as you receive credit for it at UCSC, the units count towards your total at UCSC. (Except, of course, the transfer credit limitation)

I don’t see why it would have to be designated as either fulfilling a GE or major requirement. I think you’re fine, personally. Ask your adviser or the registrar if you’re unsure, but I think it’s fine. I would think that taking electives like that one would be encouraged.
