Graduation

Seems like yesterday we were researching colleges. Tomorrow I leave to make the trip to North Carolina for graduation. My sons experience at Elon was wonderful... everything you hope college experience will be. Hope those that choose Elon have similar positive experiences.

Congratulations. We were on campus yesterday and saw them setting things up. Hope you have great weather and a wonderful graduation experience.

Congratulations. I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday.

The graduation events were great. It was a perfect couple of days. It was nice to see how much son and friends expressed their love of the school and their time there. … Now back to reality.

Does anyone have any tips on how and when to secure hotel rooms for graduation? My S’s girlfriend is a rising senior at Elon, and it just recently occurred to me that assuming they are still together, we may want to be on campus for her grad weekend (she is from a different part of the country so it would be our opportunity to meet her family.). When I went online today to make a reservation for May 2015, all of the Burlington hotels were already sold out, and so were many of the hotels in Greensboro. I was able to make a reservation at the Comfort Suites in Whitsett so problem solved, but now I’m wondering when I need to book for S’s graduation in May 2016. One hotel showed that they were already sold out, the others would not let me book that far out online. I know some hotels won’t book until 1 year from arrival date, so I was a bit surprised that so many were full just 2 weeks after this year’s graduation. Would appreciate hearing from any of you with experience in booking for Elon’s big events, particularly graduation. My high school D is planning to attend as well, so we will face this situation more than once!

Stay alot of times at the Acorn Inn - this will increase your chances inthe lottery they do for rooms for the big weeeknds. They also auction off a weekend through a charity. - this is what they told me. I was tryig to book for this upcoming parents weekend - managed a Marriot in Greensboro instead. I would rather not go parents weekend we will be there enough as it is and 1 less trip will be fine by me

The Comfort Suites in Whitsett was always our preferred place to stay. However when I tried to book a room a year in advance they were already booked. We ended up staying at the Comfort Suites Four Seasons in Greensboro (very nice). We arrived thursday night and attended the baccalaureate and Fellows reception on friday and then Graduation on saturday…

I called the hotel directly and they gave me the date and time they would release rooms for grad weekend. For some it was not the typical 351 days(a year minus 2 weeks) but another day. I was able to get rooms at the Marriott in Burlington–and it sold out in about 5 minutes!
