I'm studying for the SAT right now, and I need some help on the grammar part in the writing section. Does anyone have any suggestions for some good grammar books they used to help them prepare for it?
Also, if you know any books that focus especially on idioms and usage that would be extremely helpful too! Thanks!

Yeah, I need a lot of help too. I got a 620 W the first time and a 590 last time and everyone say writing is the easiest, so…

Hey Coollege,

The CollegeBoard’s Official SAT Study Guide (the big blue book) is probably the best place to start studying for any section of the SAT. It’s also the most accurate source for practice tests, as the CollegeBoard produces the actual SAT tests.

If you need additional instruction specifically for the grammatical concepts covered in the SAT Writing multiple choice sections, I personally recommend [SparkNotes Guide to the new SAT & PSAT](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1411401506?ie=UTF8&tag=sn0ca-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=1411401506). It does a pretty good job of going over the different grammatical errors tested and question types. The Writing Sections are also organzied in a very logical manner.

You can also find a more thorough review of some of the best SAT prep books from [The SAT Ninja’s Review of Best SAT Prep Books](http://satninja.com/best-sat-prep-books), including information on which books are best for specific sections of the test.

This isn’t SAT specific, but Diane Hacker’s Bedford Handbook is good. You can buy old ones cheap online.

You might also look around the first Web site that pops up when you go to google and put in grammar darling. It’s a guide to grammar and writing–and no pass word needed. It has lots of quizzes that may be simpler than the SAT, but it links you back to the rule. Good luck.

I too bought the Bedford Handbook. It’s a concise grammar handbook and it was helpful in identifying parallelism and dangling modifiers errors. Moreover, it proves useful for improving my writing for AP English.

Ok thanks!!!
