Grandmarc at UV (Riverside, CA)

Since the new management took over it has become the absolute WORST place a student can live at in the Riverside area.

As a UCR student myself, I advise any student not to live here!!!! The new management has charged me for BS fees, an extra month of rent because they could not find my money order and move-out charges unjustly. The only way they get away with taking so much of their resident's money is by threatening to send the account to collections and ruin your credit score. I know multiple other students that used to live here that were harassed into paying extremely high amounts of money for the same reason. There is even a group of facebook called GrandMarc Apts-DO NOT RENT HERE!!! where students have posted their horror stories when dealing with the new management and the problems with the complex itself.

On top of that, the contract is extremely binding. When I realized the management was threatening and harassing students and was fed up with their unfair business practices I tried to terminate my contract however, I was told that they "do not offer a termination or termination fee. If you move out, you will still be responsible for the rent of the remaining months on your lease." Meaning you literally can't move out and you're stuck there if you sign a lease, even if you cannot afford it or want to leave.

Literally all the employees that work there try to take advantage of student's situation and lack of legal representation, especially the Assistant Manager, Krystle Schmidt. There are a ton of good complexes in the area, right across the street from Grandmarc is UV Towers. Currently, I'm living at Copper Canyon Apartments off of and it is a world of a difference how much nicer (and cheaper) it is over Grandmarc. Plus its closer to the UCR campus.
