Grants, no loans

<p>Is it possible when filling out the fafsa to say that you do not want to apply for loans? I would ideally like to see what the colleges can offer in the way of grants to cover our demonstrated need. Do I have to take a loan?</p>

<p>When you get your financial aid package from the school if you are offered loans you can decline them.</p>

<p>Your best bet is to start to run net price calculators and get an idea of what aid you may qualify for.</p>

<p>Guess what. Nobody with need WANTS loans, but if you are going to get financial help from a school, they are most likely going to expect you to also sacrifice by taking some loans along with grant help. Most schools won’t just give you free money without making you have some “skin in the game”…</p>
