grants

does the fseog grant and pell grant get awarded at the same time? also what is average time it takes to get financial aid from the us dept of education to school?

The Pell grant is an entitlement, so you get what you are entitled to. The SEOG is up to the college FA office to award. It can be awarded at any time. Up to the school if they award everything on the same day or do each type of FA on a different day.

It doesn’t matter how long it takes, the school should give you credit for it. If you are looking for a check for any overage, that is also up to the school. Our won’t do it for several weeks because the state grants are a little slow getting to the school so the bill is not zeroed out immediately.

ok my seog was already awarded a week ago so this option to award both at same time is up to the school?

If you are entitled to the Pell you’ll get it. It just hasn’t posted yet. My daughter is going back to school this week and some of her awards are STILL not posted and some that are posted are incorrect. I’ve learn to let the school get things worked out, posted, and then I call. She’s going into the office on Tuesday to change a few things, and the bill will change again.

im a first time student and im freaking out beacause the school is saying that what is going on since my fseog posted but not pell grant they said they never seen it before so they put a ticket in everytime i call they say there wating on the goverment to send money i did my fasfa back in june and its taking a while its got me worried

Stay on top of it, but the school should have your SAR report and know the Pell amount. If they didn’t, they couldn’t have awarded the SEOG. Do you have the loans? Are those posted?

no the only this that has been posted in past 2 weeks are seog grant the loans havnt posted for me to accept and i have not gotten a financial student aid package or letter

Keep in mind, Pell is an entitlement. Whether or not it is posted, if you are eligible for Pell, you will receive it. FSEOG is not an entitlement. It is not guaranteed. You can receive it this year and never receive it again. It is definitely school dependent and schools chose whom to give it to.

Are schools allowed to post fseog to account and wait as long as they want to post pell grant and loan acceptance

When did you file your FAFSA?

Were you selected for verification? If so, when did you complete that process?

According to your other (almost identical thread) this is a FOR PROFIT school, and you are enrolling in a certificate program.

The federal government is being very cautious about awarding aid to “for profit” schools. There has been a LOT of misuse of federal funds.

Check to,see if you school even participates in the Direct Loan program…it might not.

@devon11122, Does your local community college offer anything related to what you want to study? They’re usually less expensive than for profit schools and credits transfer better. Many even have articulation agreements with other colleges which is helpful if you decide to transfer later on. I’d consider all other options before settling for a for profit school.

How much does this school cost per semester?

june 10 the federal student aid processed fasfa

$11,077

no they dont offer it

they do @thumper1

So the online for-profit school costs $11k per semester. Since the federal grants and loans may only cover about half of that, how will you pay for the rest?

How many semesters long is the family child services program?

Did you look into the employment rate for people who earn that certificate in your program? What kind of jobs do they get and how much do those jobs pay?

Is it this program?

Do you already have a bachelor’s degree? Then you can’t get Pell anymore I think.
