Grants

Is everyone suppose to get the seog and state uni grant? My efc is 000000 n I only got pell grant n cal grant for my financial aid. That’s isn’t enough for my tuition fee at all. What do I do?

I’m hoping that cal grant experts will chime in…but if you are going to a public university in CA, I thooght the Calgrant pretty much covered tuition.

Is this for Cal Poly Pomona?

What is your total aid? And what is your tuition cost? Are you commuting to college? The Calgrant does not cover the costs of room and board.

SEOG is limited to what the school has available. Did you do your FAFSA in October?

I am no expert for CA aid either but also thought that Calgrant covered tuition and then the Pell grant and student loan and summer work earnings can cover room and board.

I don’t think you can get the Cal grant and the SUG together, at least that’s what I was told. I don’t qualify for the Cal Grant (because of my age) so I asked FA one day about it and they said I qualified for the SUG instead. Maybe it depends on the school (I’m also at a CalState but it’s not CalPoly).

Under SUG: “For students who are initially awarded a State University Grant for fees and subsequently receive a Cal Grant or other fee-paying source including any type of tuition waiver, the State University Grant will be cancelled.”

My friend was able to get cal grant b subsidence with Pell Grant n SUG. However I only got the Pell Grant n cal grant b subsidence.

My friend received 5 grants in total and I was able to get 2 grants in total. I applied n submitted everything on time. There was also the situation where they took 1 month to input my cal grant.

SEOG is limited funding per college campus. It is awarded on a first come first served basis. It is not a guaranteed grant for anyone.

I would suggest that you contact financial aid at your college, and inquire whether this is all you can and will receive.

In addition, please…please stop chatting this up with your friends. It is very very possible they are either giving you incomplete information or inaccurate information. And anyway…what they got has NO bearing on what you might or might get.
