Graphic Design/Photography/Business related summer opportunities for a HS student?

Any idea where I should look? I really want to do something related to one (or perhaps all three!) of these this summer (between jr and sr year). I am able to intern in either Orange County or New York City. Any ideas or suggestions?

I was thinking of doing an ad agency in NYC to combine graphic design and business, but I'm not sure if they even take high school student interns. How would one approach large businesses and ask if they need an intern for the summer?

Sorry for all these newbish questions; I haven't given this much thought yet.

Looking forward to some insight from you knowledgeable people (:

I am interested in this as well. Anyone have any ideas? Where to look, where to start? Is it possible?

I’m interested in this as well!

I’ve done some research and read that internship for HS students are a bit more challenging to come across if you don’t have the connections. Maybe you can ask your school counselor, because my school has a ‘booth’ to find internships during the school year (but it’s restricted to seniors only).

The only thing I can think of that gives you an opportunity to experience these are summer programs. If you haven’t looked into them, look at the PreCollege summer programs for your favorite art schools, or any art school actually. Ones that I hear that bring a great experience is Pratt, School of Visual Design, NYU. They’re very costly though. :/

Would love to send my rising senior to a graphic design, fashion, advertising type precollege program. We’d like to avoid the larger cities and find a program that also allows students to enjoy outdoor activities on a beautiful campus. May sound like a strange art program requirement, but being Florida born and raised, she’d like a change in environment to escape the relentless Florida summertime heat and flat terrain – so maybe a cooler mountain community? Colorado? North Carolina? New England? Any suggestions?

Still looking for a nice program. Got accepted to a community service abroad program, so I have backup plans - would still really like to do something design related though.
