GRE subject test for EE?

I'm planning to apply to top grad school programs in EE. It looks like all of the ones I've looked at so far don't require any GRE subject tests. Does anyone know of any schools that do require a subject test for EE? If not, would it still be a good idea to take one for math or physics for any reason?

Not unless the schools you are applying to explicitly require it, there’s nothing to worry about. On top of which, most graduate programs don’t care about the GRE once you past a certain point - schools that report average scores probably care a little more, but most do not. For EE programs, the idea is generally 800ishQ and 600ishV. Some interdisciplinary programs do want you take one in physics or chemistry, but again, just check with the schools you apply to. Spending unnecessary money doesn’t sound like a good idea to me.

I would hesitate to take the GRE subject test in the field you intend to pursue graduate studies in unless the places you’re applying to suggest that you take it.

For subjects which are not the same as your intended field of study, I would not waste the money… that’s what it would be, a waste. Take the general and do well, and have a good GPA.

As far as I know, they eliminated the GRE test for engineering… they still have it for CS, Math, and Physics, but the engineering one… I don’t think they do that one anymore.
