Just an update - - my son is graduating in 2009 and has just been offered a wonderful Civil Engineering job, beating out other candidates from schools such as Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech.
If you want a chance to shine in Engineering - - and not get lost as a "number" - - go here.

I heard Manhattan was a great engineering school when my son was looking 2 years ago. It wasn't his major, so he didn't go, but it sounded like a good school that seemed to have great aid also.

My son majored in Civil Engineering and got a job two years ago right before he graduated. He now is living in Delaware, making more money than I do! Actually, all of the young men and women who were his friends either got jobs or went to grad school. Engineering is a very tough major, though.
My son did not do any internships with the school as he got his own in the summer. However, I am sure they work with students, especially those who live in the Long Island, NYC area to get internships.
