Great grades Senior Year, but poor BC Calculus grade

Hey guys,

I am in the top 1 percent of my class (probably valedictorian/sal) and have taken consistently challenging AP courses. I took 4 Junior year and 6 Senior year, and did well in all of them (A's or A pluses)...

Except for BC Calculus this year. My quarterly grades are mid B's and I feel as if I may get a low B or even a high C on my midterm.

Supposing I do relatively well on my other midterms (e.g. B + or higher), would my BC Calculus midyear grade ruin my chances at Princeton and other highly selective schools? Our teacher is exceptionally challenging and the top 25 students in the class are the only ones who take the class-The average grade is about an 80.

I'm an Asian applicant with really good ECs btw (national level prizes for classical Oriental singing, state level debate competition best delegate awards (RUMUN, Philmun, etc), etc.

Can someone please give me an accurate picture of what I should expect going forth??

Thank you so much!

I’m just a junior, but I highly doubt it.

don’t worry too much. I don’t think it will affect you too much as colleges dont use these grades too much and its just a B. Calm down.

Worry if you have a C, but chillax if you keep the B.
Also, depends on what major you applied to…

Yuhikojay, I put down Economics in my app (not purely math, but involves some math). as reference, I also got a 770/780 on SAT math two

Oh… which colleges might I ask? Because econ does revolve around mathmetics…

K UPenn and Princeton right… Yeah it won’t help you, but it won’t hurt you either.

Good luck! :)

I had the same concern with Princeton SCEA. A’s and A+'s in every class all four years except first quarter Calc BC: 88. I was accepted regardless, so I’m pretty sure it’s not a big deal.
