UCSD / UCSB / UCSC / UCLA / UCI.
In terms of location / beaches / surf culture

Well in SoCal there is UCI/UCSD. Neither have reps as good party schools, but UCSD is right next to black and arguably the best surf in SoCal. UCI is right next to Newport and HB isn’t too far, eventually you can rent out a place on the peninsula and thats a pretty decent scene. OC doesn’t have great surf, but its pretty consistent and when it gets good in late summer and winter it can be great. Oh and Trestles is in between UCI/SD.
UCSB has decent surf from what I hear, but not great. Rincon isn’t too far, but when its good its crowded(like Trestles). UCSB also has a great social scene obviously.
UCLA isn’t good if you wanna surf. The closest stuff is a shwag drive and its mainly longboarding territory.
UCSC has the best surf out of any school in the country, but its in NorCal so it gets pretty damn cold. If you’re serious about surfing I’d go there, but just a heads up the locals can get territorial with slugs.
Anyhow, I’d say the best surf is a toss-up between UCSD/UCSC. SC has a slight edge over SD but blacks isn’t far behind steamers and it’s a lot warmer.

Pepperdine !

i’d say UCSC is the best. they have surfing classes on campus too.
