Greek Life and Parties and Stuff??

OKay, so do you have to join a frat to go to frat parties?

How are the parties?

How easy is it to make friends?

Im indian, from asia, not native american, is wake so far southt that this could be a problem?

That what could be a problem?

i think he means could making friends be a problem because he is a minority student at wake

Hey. I’m also Indian, but born in the US and a current student at Wake. YES. It is a major factor in the social life here at Wake. I’m not from the area, and WS as a city kind of sucks. The Greek life is really predominant here–if that’s your thing, go for it. Otherwise, other outlooks for social life is basically not available unless you make a close group of friends. I am actually trying to transfer out of Wake.

thanks for the info 2013 student. Can you give us your reasons for transferring?

parties here are not fun. they are pretty open if you can find a ride from one of the members, but there is rarely any parties on campus and the ones off campus are in sketchy town house basements. im also trying to transfer, not because i hate wake but because i want to go to college in a more exciting place. PM me if you want more details

That’s really not true at all, especially for on campus parties (such as the ones this weekend). I walked into a frat party where I didn’t know anyone in the frat and no one approached me and said “Are you in a sorority? If not, leave”. Keep in mind I also walked in with three unaffiliated boys and this was a very small party.

Hm, really? Because I’ve been to only a couple of basement parties since I’ve been here and exactly zero “town house” parties, and there are lounge parties on campus all of the time.

I honestly believe that people who do not think that social events exist at Wake are the people who do not seek them out. No one is going to put blinking arrow signs on the way to their parties.

I’m also going to stand up for WS – anyone who thinks WS is lame hasn’t been there enough. There are lots of (GREAT) restaurants (Mellow Mushroom, etc) and ice cream places (Kernel Kustard!) and things to do. WS does not “suck” as a city.

IDK…

But pinkcupcake14 seems a little more convincing. I mean… at least there are examples stated.

yeah my bad. clearly pinkcupcake14 knows how to party because she spends absolutely no time on this website…so if you don’t believe me you can come here and you can hang out with her

Yeah, transferguy123 caught me … I spend my Friday and Saturday nights on the internet answering questions about parties and PRETENDING I go to them … obviously.

Plus, I don’t go on message boards trashing my school’s social scene. That’s the definition of not having a life.

I wholeheartedly agree. I hate how down some kids are on Winston-Salem as a town. There is a lot to do, you just have to find it.

Winston-Salem, Wake Forest, hell life is what you make of it. I just think people come in with a chip on their shoulder or with preconceived notions and let that get to them. It really is sad.

Nice post, Willmingtonwave, you will go far with that mature attitude. Both you and Pinkcupcake14 are the best representatives of Wake! I am sure many posters appreciate the time and effort you guys take to answer questions.
