So im applying for the fall 2016 term at the university of washington and I really want to go rush but im confused by a couple things.
When do kids rush specifically frats and how does it work at UDUB? Im from Chicago so when I hear about people rushing they say its during the summer? Is there any option for kids that live far away?
A lot of midwest schools you live in the greek house sophomore year but I hear at UDUB you live in the house freshman year, is that required of all freshman in the frat because I want to live in a dorm and experience dorm life at some point in college so it it possible to live in a dorm the 1st semester and move into the house 2nd semester? Also if freshman live in the house, where do sophomores and uperclassman live?
Apparently they have this week for out of staters to come and rush (only Weds-Sat, and that’s not NEARLY enough time IMO to go through rush), but I’m not sure how that works. I’d recommend calling their Greek Life office and asking them about all of this.
Saw a thread on GreekChat about UW rush for sororities, and much of the advice holds true. Copying and pasting:
Re: what kind of guys rush fraternities, every fraternity’s different and you’ll find different types of people in each. There’s not a stereotypical “frat bro” like you’d think (while some fraternities are more like the stereotype). It all depends on the campus, the chapter, and the brothers.
