So, just curious. About how much does it cost to join a frat at Cornell?

I don't know about frats....but I know that sororities can be pricey. However, in most cases the cost of room + board in the greek system less than collegetown and cornell housing.

sorority dues+housing is usually around ~$3500 - ~$4500 per semester. you think it may be a lot, but its a lot cheaper when you see that a single per semester at cornell is ~$7500

I did a little research (but had a hard time finding prices), and I thought it looked that being in the Greek system and living in the frat/sorority house might be cheaper than living in a dorm on campus, but I wasn't sure. So basically, Freshman year is really the only year that it's expensive since you have to pay room and board and frat/sorority dues? Do junior and senior brothers and sisters live in the house, or do most of them rent apartments off campus and have to pay rent plus their dues?

depending on the chapter...I would say that juniors and seniors tend to move out of the house and off campus. They have to pay their rent and utilities plus chapter dues. Out of house chapter dues are usually higher than in house dues.

Many sororities have large pledge classes that are required to live in for their first year (either soph/junior) and there is no room for upperclass sisters (except the chapter president) so there is no choice but to move out.
