Greek life

How big is the greek life at Tufts? Does it dominate the social scene and how big is the drinking?

I'd say it's not that big. Only 10 frats (I think) and 3 sororities. I don't know a lot of people who are doing it....however, I feel that as a freshman, our weekend nights are dominated mostly by frat parties. The people that I party with almost exclusively go to frats (although we sometimes just party in the dorm). There are a lot of students who drink, and also a lot who do not. If you drink, you can go to a frat; if not, you can definitely find other people to chill with and many other things to do. So for me, if I didn't drink (and wasn't in a frat/sorority), then I don't think Greek Life would have anything to do with me; but because I do party, I feel like Greek Life is solely important for me for weekend parties. (PS if you're looking to be involved in a frat, good luck because they're really getting in trouble lately w/drinking/drug use with the pledges)

Greek life tires after freshman year though. It just loses its novelty and wow factor (in my humble opinion).
