Grinnell RD class of 2019

My son was an early write! He was awarded the Trustee Scholarship and a grant.

Sounds like most of you here have already been accepted. Congratulations guys!
To those who have been notified early, can you please post some sat (one and two) stats so that the others (including me lol) who are still waiting can get an idea about the level of the pool of applicants.

SAT 1 scores (first sitting): 1980 with an awful performance in the writing section. Hopefully, grinnell does not consider the writing section
SAT 2 scores (first sitting): 700 M2 and 750 Chem.

Also, any international student here? I just wanted to know if you have already received your admission decision; I heard that all international applicants will get notified by late March, so I’m not really concerned but just wondering.

Good luck to all those waiting! Fingers crossed for all of you.

International here. 2160 SAT (1500 CR+M, so if writing isn’t considered, woohoo!), 800 on M2/Phys/Chem SAT IIs. I too would like to know if any int students received early writes.

And congrats to all of you who got accepted!

Wow nice! Perfect scores in all three subjects, gratz! Is that the first time you were taking the sat?

Also, I heard that admission decision letters will be mailed on March 20.

Have you applied for financial aid btw?

Considering the fact that the acceptance rate of int’l students in the last year was 9%, it’s hard to say…

Why you think you were accepted: I visited once. Also had a great interview with someone who I really connected with. Other than that, not really sure

@lg1234, did you hear by letter for RD? Or is this a late response to an early write?

My son is an international applicant too. Still waiting, he applied for faid. So nervous

Same here jandro! And good luck everyone

The admissions twitter says decisions will be online on 3/20 at 5 pm CDT. Same exact time as Kenyon.

Yes YES yES YES, I need schools to tell me this. I am so tired of being rejected.

D got a call tonight and is in! Good luck to everyone!

The decisions will b out today??? I’m So nervous

@Dawnpaige Could you elaborate on the phone call?

@gminor. Sure. At about 6pm West Coast time D got a call on her cell phone (we must have listed that number on her app) from the regional admissions rep telling her that she got in and got merit aid and to expect the email tomorrow (which is now today). I wasn’t home but suffice it to say we were really surprised! I was actually driving home from work with a celebratory dinner because she had just gotten into another school a few hours before! It was a good night :). Everyone will hear soon – good luck!

@Dawnpaige That’s really unusual, judging by the fact that she was the only person here who got a phone call. Is your daughter overly-qualified?

Well only person to post about it :). I’d say well-qualified but not out of the norm for the pool of kids that apply and get in here. She didn’t get an early write, for example. 3.9 UW GPA, 33 ACT, 7 APs, decent focused ECs, no hooks. She does go to a very competitive public high school. Can’t say why she got the call really. Again we were really surprised! Maybe this particular rep made calls? And given the time difference only called kids on the West Coast? Pure speculation of course!

Darn! S didn’t get a phone call. I’m hoping it’s because we’re midwest and Grinnell is more interested in applicants outside the midwest. Will be on pins and needles until 5:00, but happy because S just got his Carleton acceptance in the mail this morning.

Hi, first time posting but like @Dawnpaige‌, my daughter got a call from Grinnell yesterday, and I dropped in to see if anyone else had received one. We live in the Central time zone and the call came to D’s cell around 4pm telling her that she got in and got merit aid. She was in shock and said she almost cried!

Oy! There goes that theory! Well, at least the decision will be available at 5:00.
