Groceries delivered

I know this will only affect a few of you, but thought I would pass this along. DS lives in New Leonardtown, none of them have a car, so getting groceries is a pain. I did this for them and they are now hooked.

Google giant pea pod

Giant is a grocery store. Then open up a shoppers card. Now here's the beauty. They can order their whole grocery list on line, without ever leaving their apt/dorm.

At the end go to promo code and write firstorder...no spaces. They immediately take off $15 bucks. Then for the next 60 days you get free delivery...write in promo freedelivery.
Have the roomies open up their own 60 days later, and repeat.

You can also use regular coupons too.

You must have the order in by 6 pm for next day delivery. The downfall, is they have limited delivery times, 7 am to 1 pm and it is a 2 hr block. You can have them leave it unattended.

DS and his roommates were thrilled, because they showed at 9 am, and I treated them with things that they didn't even ask for...i.e. Klondike bars were on sale and a cookie cake from the bakery, so I got them, even though they weren't on the list. Of course as a Mom who saw their toilet, 2 weeks ago, I had 2000 flushes tablets delivered too. DS laughed and he said, well you're at least smart enough to realize we would have never used Lysol Cling out of laziness.

My Mom is also a big time goody package shipper (sends 1 a week, filled with anything from brownie mix to tortillas to gum, anything that is not perishable). Her packages cost her @10 bucks a week in shipping, so now she is going to just have Giant deliver it to them, since it saves her shipping costs, she buys him a $10 giant gift card with the order, and that allows him spending money at the same time. She is in NJ, there are no Giant grocery stores, but she was still able to open an account, so don't think it is you need to have a giant store to get the giant shopper card.

I just wanted to throw that out there. Probably won't work for dorm kids, but it is great for those that are in apts. It also allows the kids to buy everything, and be able to break down their costs prior to submitting the order. The only issue is that kids will have to pay that one child, since they need at least a debit/credit card...than again what kid does not show up at college without at least a debit card?

Also, I think even for the kids in dorms, it is an option to have a birthday cake delivered, and that is a great option. Just choose the option unattended. The recipient does sign for it...kind of like registered mail. They also call about 15 minutes out to let them know they are on the way.

If you do this don't forget to check their on line only sales. They are good deals, this past week they had 16" in store fresh pizzas for 7.99.

That’s a great idea, Pima…thanks for sharing!

Thanks. I mentioned this to D1 and she said “I WONDERED what those delivery cars were doing on campus!!” I’m sending her your tips!

Nice find! I live in the new l-town myself…this will definitely come in handy…but 2 of my roomies do have cars…still though lol

Glad to help. Even for those in the dorm type, if they use the free delivery code, it would be cheaper to buy the sundries from them than at the Stamp. Don’t know about anybody else, but DS could easily go through a case of water and soda within 2 weeks, add in personal products and snacks and you are saving a lot of money.

Of course DS is coming home this weekend, that means I have 2 go grocery shopping 2x, because 1 for our family and 1x for him. (I have 2 fridges, but pizzas, frozen chicken and hot pockets will fill up 1  On top of the red only load of laundry.
