risingjunior, I think you meant it (as I understand it as acceptance rate) is downward?? But, MX is on the rise, which I completely agree, to be comparable to even Groton in many ways. I believe that better applicants applied to MX with higher number of applicants at these days because, not only MX prepares students better academically, but also MX CARES FOR STUDENTS unlike many "top tier" schools tend to forget to do at these days considering the schools are dealing with teeagers.

RTD344, I did mean it was on the rise. I should have clarified that I didn't mean acceptance rate, but over all school.

Anyway you slice it, Middlesex is a great school with stellar academics, a caring and excellent faculty and very happy students.

If you want to rank BS, I believe you will find that Middlesex is in the top tier of schools that does not include SMS or SGS. With that said the st. grotlsex schools are all very nice in terms of getting an education.

Last years matrics at MX although strong may not have been as strong as the years before, however, you will see that change back to normal with a strong showing in 2008.

I really don't know much about many of the schools in question but I do know that Middlesex presented itself to my son's Jr Prep school as being as strong as the "big guys" without the "pressure cooker" environment. Their admissions rep actually used the words "pressure cooker." Don't know if that means anything, especially in relation to Groton, St Marks, but they are clearly attempting to seperate themselves from the AESD-type of "reputation."

I personally don't think Groton. I think the reason Groton and Middlesex for that matter don't have those reputations is because the are so small.
I think that if Groton had 1200 kids they would be thought of as "one of the best in the country " too

First of all erkybk, I don't think your logic about college admissions makes any sense. The top students from mdx are clearly going to better colleges than the top students at sms and sgs. Over the last four years mdx has sent 25 kids to harvard, 24 to brown, 22 to tufts, 10 to cornell, etc. SMS doesnt even have an ivy in its top 10 college matriculation list. Over the same period of time as mdx (4 years) SGS has sent only 6 to brown, 5 to harvard, etc.

clearly mx is getting more kids into the elite colleges. that is not to say that it is only the best students getting into the good colleges, please just look at their matriculations they are much more solid than both sgs and sms. plus these matriculations are not just a fluke, they are based on four full years of data and are bound to actually go up given how admission is becoming even more competetive.

as for your friend who got into mx and not sms. it is extremely naive to just assume that sms is better because they rejected somebody mx accepted. every school has needs, maybe your friend is a great soccer player and mx needs soccer players but sms doesnt. i know of many kids that didnt get into andover and exeter yet got into mx.

sgs, sms, and mx are all amazing schools, i dont mean to turn anyone off of sms or sgs because they are great. i simply believe that mx is closer to sps and groton then sms and sgs if you look at the facts.

jgh3115 That number is about 189 accepts to fill the 100 spots.

jgh3115, eitherway is fine with me. It seems like that you are biased
toward MX. Are you going to that school? then I understand you should
protect your school. I don't want to offend anybody(not only you but also anybody who supports SMS and SGS). Good Luck for your new school! Who knows? I maybe your classmate if you and I go to MX. If I choose SMS and you go to MX, I wish you a good luck!

Lucky, you get to incorportae MX when choosing schools......darn it.
MX is a great school, IN MY OPINION, It is the best of all the GROTTLESEX schools.

MS is doing too much sports. That is one of the main reason that my mind is not tiliting that way. I am not a sports type girl.
I like music and arts better. I might go to SMS. This year they have a great
college matriculation. My parents talked to them today and found out their college matriculation data is improving impressively due to their new leadership. Aussie, Good Luck for MX waitlist!
