Can anyone who has previously taken these classes give me an overview of them?
Thank you in advance.

My D has takes one fitness class each semester. Right now she is taking a spin class. She has taken a weight training class. I think the kickboxing class was her all time favorite.

There are limits on how many classes students may miss. The classes are Pass/Fail. Classes are offered on both East and West campuses.

Thanks. Do you know if those classes actually count in for our credits, say, like 0.5 credit per class? I really want to get involved with them because I fear myself might get too lazy to go to the gym, so being committed to a particular PE class might help that. Yet next semester I’m limited to 4.5 credits, and since I’m planning to be a Music minor, I’m thinking of using that .5 for instrument class.

Yes the .5 credit for the PE classes does count towards your 4.5 credit limit. You can ask for a waiver - talk to your advisor.

actually anything up to 5 credits doesn’t need a waiver (at least in pratt). The most you have to do is probably to verbally clear it with your advisor (or by email). You can’t register for more than 4.5 credits, though, until all the registration windows have opened, to give everyone a shot at getting whatever classes they want. So if you think that the music instrument class won’t fill up too quickly (or if that’s not an issue) then definitely sign up for PE first, because those classes are very popular.

Thanks. It seems like I should sign up for PE class first and wait till I arrive on campus to start signing up for instrument class.

gaconlonton177 - since you are an incoming student remember that the Classes of '10, '11 and '12 registered this week.

The PE classes are very popular, but if you really want to be in a specific class stay on the wait list - you might get lucky. My D stayed on the wait list for a PE class she really wanted and even though she was last on the wait list she got into the class.

Good luck!

This may be a silly question, but when I was in college I took a powerskating course that I loved. i will be going to Duke for grad school soon and I was told that we could take an undergrad course every once in awhile. I was wondering if Duke has an ice rink and/or a powerskating or hockey course?
