GRUBER's SAT??? Is it good!??

Rate from 1-10 does this book make the cut? is it super helpful???

NO 0 for CR and Writing

maybe for math but i didnt need to study math

its horrible for CR and Writing.

I don't know about their tests, but I do have the book and while I don't think the practices are as good at the CB book or Barron's, it has some helpful CR strategies.

writing sucks.. I can tell you this lol

ya so i got a 70 on the psat writing (and 66 cr) on psat so my parents signed me up for this sat tutoring class to prep for the december sat (which was horrible in its own right), but anyways the teacher made us buy some materials that included the grubers book.

To start off the class, we had to take a practice preliminary test and I got a 570 on writing-around 60 mc? (6/12 on essay-thats what the teacher gave me, according to grubers essay grading system or something like that)...and only a 1130 overall (out of 1600, no math, so even perfect in math would have bben 1930...which is only around 50 points better than what i got in 8th grade lol)-the teacher woundlnt even answer why, just what the answer was to practice tests

so i was like im not going to waste my time on this because all the questions i missed were the worst writing questions ever on any practice sat, so i just practiced with my BB for a month before Dec. SAT and just listened to nothing what the teacher said (so wasting like 150 dollars from my parents)...

Just got my scores back for dec., got a 2240 overall, compared to 213 oct. psat and also got a 780 writing with a 74 mc and 11 essay, so yea basically that book screws you up and it depresses you for a while

too bad my parents now love the teacher...and the grubers book...guess its the teaching material not actually the student that matters for them.

Gruber's is fantastic.

Their math has everything you could ever need and a bunch of tricks the other books skip entirely.

Their writing, contrary to what people above me have said, is fantastic. The grammar section has literally everything that could show up on the test, and a bunch more (including lists of proper idioms and whatnot.)

They also have the biggest vocab list of all the test prep books, which is supplemented by a huge list of latin and greek roots, prefixes, and suffixes. This is a huge help with the critical reading.

Gruber's practice tests suck though. Don't use them under any circumstances. Get the Blue Book for those.

i liked the writing section >:O

it brought my 640 W, 9 essay to a 740, 12 essay.
