Grubers Book-not very useful?

How useful is this book for SAT?

Because I just took a test and I got 800 Math, 580 CR, 540 Writing (MC*10), and Ive never gotten anything lower than 580 or 540 on any other test in my life-practice or real- (in fact i got 640 CR, 630 W in 8th grade on the real SAT)....

Im kinda confused why I did this badly. For anybody else that has this book, did you guys find this book NOTHING like the real SAT? and the difficulty to be WAY higher than the real SAT (and i ran out of time on one of the sections, which ive never done before)? Because Im kinda worried...

anyways, if not this book, what other book (besides the blue book) do you guys recommend for preparation for SAT (if im taking nov. 1-i m going to prep like crazy)
Oh yea best book for CR, Im not worried about Math or Writing (even if i got 540 because i usually get 720-800 when taking the sections out of the blue book)

my English teacher, who tutors the SAT, swears its the WORST book ever written and that it has nothing to do with the SAT.

Also, just from glancing at a friend's book, it seems like the lit section is completely wack. the synonyms aren't even close

yea, the CR and W sections are complete bull.

trust the blue book, and 10 real sats

Use it for the math only - it helps a good deal. Other than that, its ehh....

Well my parents just wasted like 25 bucks or how much it was...
lol (i needed it for this prep class that i also think is crap...i doubt it will help since the first lesson i went to all the teacher did was give out tests and never explain why the answer was that and never explain strategies for CR and W)

i dont really need any math help (besides limiting careless mistakes), but I do need CR and maybe a little bit of Writing, so yea ill probalby get the "10 real sat" book...i think i should only really trust CB now because they are the ones making the real SATs...

Besides studying vocab, what other way can you improve reading (like reading comprehension), is the best way just doing practice tests (it seems like its the hardest to prepare for)
