I am a few weeks into my "Freshman College" and determined to do right in order for my GT to be honored. I am one of the lucky GT that must maintain a 3.5. So far, all is going great. But the reality just hit me, what if by the end of the year it works out that I come out with say a 3.49999, my Gt is gone.

I have to start to think of other schools to transfer to for I am at a "freshman college" I have no desire to attend for more than just this year. It is a lower tier from all I turned down when the GT was offered. It is known for kids who need that extra year from high school to prove themself. I attend it for, 1, it is very close to my home, I decided to commute so I could focus on the 3.5. & 2, It made no sense to attend another expensive school for just one year.

Now while I start this transfer life, I must convince other schools why I want to transfer to their schools & dont want to stay where I am. Maybe I am putting the cart before the horse, but my head is starting to spin about this mess and am not sure I am even thinking correctly. I am just starting to gather information on transfers. Any encouraging thoughts will be very helpful.

Generally, you don't tell a school you want to transfer to why you don't want to stay where you already are. You tell them why you want to be at their school.

For me...writing my essay for Cornell transfer was like writing freshman application essays all over again. I made no mention of my old school or why I wanted to leave...I focused only on the opportunities a Cornell education was give me and why I was a good fit my my major and CALS.

Hi,
I know one doesnt tell another school why one wants to leave the current school they are in. I am concerned about where I am now and how it will be viewed by other schools that are more selective if my GT to Cornell doesnt work out. I took over 6 AP"s in High School, had a very active EC & Vol's. worked my butt off & was in the 10% of my sr class with 500+ students .

I am stuck in this dummy school with kids who were lucky to just get out of high school, & now I find out, my Calc prof. seldom gives B's. Everything I worked for seems to be in the drain.

It looks like most transfer app. that I have looked at so far doesnt care about ones high school life. I am taking basic science courses that I took in the 10 th grade !!!Bio,Cal , & Chem.

The Cornell app took me 30 days to complete. I put my heart and soul into that application...I dont have that passion to put into another college . I know I am worrying way to soon...but I will be so bummed ... how will it look if I re-apply to the schools that accepted me last spring and say Oh... by the way, Sorry I turned you down , but will you accept me again ???

I feel the same, sammy2. Don't worry too much because if you worked that hard for your high school, you are definitely getting above 3.5 in your college. You're gonna be fine!!!! Just look at me (who can't even get a required course and now can't get into Cornell) and say, "I'm lucky than her. I'm a Cornellian!!!!"
