i am not sure that I got into any of the Ivies yet, but is anyone considering enrolling at Georgetown OVER an Ivy league school ? What are your reasons ?

I haven’t heard back yet, but I would pick Georgetown just because they have my exact major, more diverse than the ivies, and the people seem a lot more down to earth.

agreed. I was waitlisted at Harvard, but I’m not going crazy trying to get off the list. I’ve focused on Georgetown and am very content with my decision. According to Facebook, several members of our class are turning down an Ivy for Gtown.

I mean come on. It’s an absolutely fabulous school. The location is better than that of most Ivies (Georgetown is the best part of DC in my opinion.) The students are more attractive, and it’s more fun in general.

@kph and kadymd - I agree ! I can home one day and my letter from Georgetown, in all its glory, was sticking out of my mailbox. at this time, I hadn’t heard back from Barnard/Columbia, my other top choice. Before the rejections came I was really agonizing over where I would go, but the day before I officially heard that I didn’t get in, I made up my mind that I would go to Georgetown anyway. I feel like at Georgetown you get the best all around expereince, a traditional college feel, prestige, sports, and a city feel. Its all I could ask for out of a school and I am very excited and honored to go there :)

Yeah I picked Georgetown over Cornell.

After the GAAP weekend, my son chose Georgetown SFS over Columbia and Dartmouth. He is was interested in international relations, foreign languages, etc. As an undergrad you simply cannot top the SFS program.

My sister didn’t have to choose between an ivy league school and Georgetown, but a higher ranked school nonetheless, and she chose Georgetown. She loved it. And a lot of the positive qualities that were mentioned are definitely true.
