Guaranteed Job?

How many of you did the "Guaranteed Job" registration yesterday? Any current students know if it generally works out well or not??? D did it and is one of the 500. Kinda funky though applying for a job without knowing what the job is.
Thoughts anyone???

I signed up for it and also was one of the first 500. I don;t think that was really considered an application though. I'm pretty sure those first 500 who sign up are invited to a job fair type thing and get to look around at the jobs available, talk to people who would be their boss, and accept a job offer on the spot. So, you get choices for what you will do rather than being blindly assigned a job.

so I guess then it is too late to sign up? I completely forgot what day it was, although I really had no idea how to sign up in the first place.

Job Guarantee Program

There is the link. Click the sign up link in the middle of the page. It should still let you sign up, but I don't know if you would be in the first 500 or if the link closes when they have 500. It only opened on Wednesday at 3. I have no idea how much of a rush there would be so sign up, but It doesn't hurt to try.

missed it, I'm so depressed now. I really need a job :(.

dont worry...there r tons of jobs out there

Did you qualify for work study? If you did I think you still will get a job and yes, as Zouman said, there are tons of jobs on & near campus. Also check with your department to see if there is something in your field.

no, we didn't even qualify for aid but my mom will probably be getting laid off in about a year so I need to work. Also, I'm trying to save toward graduate school.

There probably are a ton of jobs but there are also a ton of students who want to work; hopefully I'll still find some openings.

believers- I was one of the 500 as well. It is odd having the guarantee and then no clue what you will do, the mystery is fun

I was one of the 500 guaranteed a job also. I won't mind a job doing anything as long as it isn't food service. I work at the food place in Target and it is so boring/pointless/hopeless that I honestly want to stick one of the metal thermometers through my skull. However, it has helped me realize that if I don't want to live the rest of my life working a job I hate then I need to buckle down in college!
