Anyone get the guranteed job placement?

I went to apply 20 minutes after signups went up, and it was closed. Seriously? 500 people in 20 minutes? Yikes.

Did anyone here get it?

I went in 2 minutes after it started and believe me or not,i was number 426.so you can imagine.

Sez, where did it tell you your number? Anyway, I submitted at 4:01:19 (or 3:01:19 CDT, I guess) and was accepted. Hearing how fast it went, I’m relieved I got in there quick enough.

The number was at the bottom left corner of the form written in white.

Yeah, I went about 25 minutes after it opened and it was closed. Oh well, I’ll just have to find another job on campus.

whoaaaa i completely forgot about it!
are we all doomed to find jobs now?

ok i found the site where we an look at job openings at UMN…but idk if i should start applying or not. what’s the advice on applying for jobs before you even get to campus and figure out your schedule?

Crap! What if you got work-study as part of your financial package?

If my understanding’s correct, you can still try to find work-study positions once the term begins (they will still have many openings), but you aren’t guaranteed a job.

is it possible for students who were given work study to not find any open jobs in the fall? what happens if that’s the case?

Yep, unfortunately it is possible. On the U of M financial aid site they say, “A work-study award does not guarantee employment.” If you don’t find a work-study position in a certain amount of time, they’ll cancel your award. On their website they say plan to find a position by October 31st. You really should be able to find something though, if you put time into applying and everything.
Here’s the website I was looking at:

eek. ill def. look/apply to many positions then!
