when do we hear if u applied as "GT" student? Anyone from last year whot got in as GT??

BUMP! anyone out thereee?

bump! need to know this!!!

"Once we receive all necessary information in the spring, we will try to respond within a week."

So I am guessing the latest date would be around 8th of April (since 1st of April is the deadline).

I am strangely nervous about Cornell even though I was offered GT ><. I keep being afraid that they will find some mistake in my app and go "oops sorry even though we offered u GT it was a hoax *****"

hey could you give me the link to where you got that quote?
I thought the deadline was March 15th instead of april 1st...did they extend the deadline ?!

That was from the letter they sent me. Anyways here's an email I received today:

Dear XXX,

I am sorry for the delay, but we were processing the freshmen applications first. You probably won't hear from us until next week. You may feel free to email me at that time to find out your decision.

Thank you,
Robin Perry

OMG!!! MORE GT PEOPLE!!! I've been trying to find other people for a while!!!

i'm a soph. with a two-year GT. I sent all my stuff in, and whenever i've called all they can say is "mid to late april, poss. May" which is hugely frustrating... That would be amazing if it is next week. I figure if nothing else, I'll call them next week since it will be after freshman applications.

also, i'm applying to CALS, which might be different than CAS in regards to admissions....

i'm so excited there are more ppl on this site... since everytime i've posted about it i've never gotten a response.

keep updating as soon as you hear! ;)

Sarah

oh and about that um, whole feeling nervous, like they're gonna say "oops sorry that was a mistake" thing... i totally feel your pain... after organic chem... definitely worried... argh...

just bumping this up

I am an ILR GT and I was told i wont hear back until later in the semester...So I am thinking end of April...maybe???

yeah so i emailed transfer@cornell.edu yesterday about a more specific date than just "april-may" and i haven't heard back yet, but i'll post what they say if and when they respond. (if being key)

Sarah

im confused now....
I know there is such thing as GT...
But isnt it something that admission gives to you if you dont get accepted as a freshmen?
How can you apply for it .....

admissions does give it to you if you don't get accepted as a freshman...you dont apply for it...what we are speaking about is when the date is when we hear back that we are "officially" in...myself for example i am a little under the gpa requirement so im pretty darn nervous.

hey,
yeah i got a two-year one... and the thing i've learned with Cornell is that nothing, absolutely nothing, is guaranteed. EVER.

i applied last year at the end of my freshman year just for the hell of it, b/c i figured why not... if i could have gone a year earlier that would have been cool... but i didn't have all of my science prereq's done yet and i had a C+ first semester of organic chem, so i think that's why i didn't get in. So I've now done this whole admissions deal---FOUR TIMES
Senior year high school applied ED---Deferred
Senior year RD date--- 2Year GT
Freshman year college transfer app---- rejected
Now---- i'm so freakin' sick of this i could scream. oh wait. i already did. multiple times.

Anyway, I'll stop complaining. I'm just a little worried about my midterm grades because I have a C average in my physical chemistry class right now, just because of the first two exams. I'm totally planning on bringing it up... but still.

My GPA from last semester was a 3.3 and cumulative it's a 3.167 which still meets the 3.0 requirement but i still feel that it's a little low.

Whatever. I"m really happy where i am so if they say no, it's not a big deal. My school right now is liberal arts which is sort of why i want to transfer because I want to do pre-vet animal science at Cornell in CALS.

Okay, wow this got long. sorry 'bout that.

talk to y'all later.

Sarah

Ok GT people.
I just go a "Coures of Study" booklet in mail so I GUESS this means I am accepted (or a very cruel joke... like "haha you can look at the courses but you got rejected son!").

By the way I thought the GPA requirement for GT was 3.2?

for ILR the requirement is a 3.3 (transfer after 1 year) and no grades lower than a B...Unfortunately I received a C in my first quarter...and my current gpa is at 3.23 just below the 3.3 so im thinking there is a good chance i may be rejected...I also received a course packet booklet in December...i hope thats a good sign.

haha i got the courses of study booklet too... but i got it last year as well. and i didn't get in that time around.

as for GPA... in my GT papers that I got in April 2004 it says for Biology majors it has to be a 3.3 and for everyone else (i.e. me in animal science) it has to be a 3.0

are there other ILR GTs here?

Any other GTs for hotel?

I feel all of your pain because I went through this process!! I am a junior at Cornell right now- I had a 2 year GT. I sent my info in on March 15th and got my letter back on April 14th. So.. don't freak out yet! It's done by your specific college so it could be different for everyone. If you meet the GPA requirements, class requirements for your major (and not officially, but I know people who didn't even have that and still got in), and you wrote a paragraph about why you want to still come, the Deans looking at your apps really want you here! PS. TRANSFERS ARE THE COOLEST. Come visit if you can, we even have a dorm only for transfers. Get excited and good luck to you all!!
