Yea that is what I am wondering about to. Ill try to find one in a post...

so do we have to transfer sophomore year? or can we transfer january of freshman year? i only got the email (ilr) and it was specific....im SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!

Did anyone get just outright rejected from Cornell ILR School (without GT status)???

Yeah GTs! I guess I'm in the club also for ILR.

did anyone get one for human ec?
i got one, but im still not too happy...i don't wanna have to go through one year and then transfer...i wanna just get in the first time...

SHA (hotel school) guaranteed transfer here.

anybody else?

“Is the GT letter a lot different from the reject?”

Yes, getting a GT is very much different than a simple reject!! With the GT you are guaranteed a spot after completing your freshmen year at any college with a GPA of 3.3 or better! This is HUGE…so be proud not many people get the GT ;) I was in the same position last year… ILR GT btw!

this is soooooo exciting and such a tremendous opportunity… GL and great job!!!!!

thanks acerbic! you made me feel better. im taking this gt as a "delayed acceptance" hehe
the only thing is trying to explain it to family, relatives, and friends

has anyone ever heard of people appealing this decision?

It really is a delayed acceptance. The thing I like to think about the most, and which is true, is that they wanted you to come SO much that they told u they will have a spot open next year. ILR has such a small class that they just didn't have any room left, but they wanted u to come so much that they actually tell u to come sophomore year. I think that that's awesome. I would rather go Freshman year, but u know wat, you are going to Cornell University for the majority of college. Going to another school actually isn't that bad. You save money and can have a lot of fun. It's easier to get grades and less strain on ur wallet for an entire year. Only sucky thing is that you get attached to people (that does suck), but besides that it is an AMAZING opportunity! Congrats everyone!!! U did it!

Guaranteed Transfer does sound much better now. But thinking of having to keep it a secret would be hard!

Lovemejaded,
Yes, my son got a GT from HE too. Doubt he will use it, but who knows?

i got a guaranteed transfer to the AEM major in CALS and got my letter in the mail today. its says i need a 3.0 GPA and no grades lower than a B and gives you the list of courses you need to take in order to be eligible to transfer. did anyone else get GT to AEM ?

Got the letter from ILR today about GT... a thick "thin" envelope :)

for those of u that got "a thick 'thin' envelope"... what is the norm for being able to transfer into Cornell? do they say anything 'bout transferring starting spring of 08? what is the minimum gpa, and what are the required courses like?

I got a GT from CALS (Development Sociology) and my letter came today. A packet was included on the requirements necessary to be enrolled for Fall '08. The required classes vary by major, as do the required GPAs (mine is 3.0, I think one bio major is 3.5). You have to be a full time student. Some AP credits count towards the required courses, some don't. Your info should come in the mail soon. :)

I'm glad to be accepted as a GT, but I'm still kind of upset that I didn't get in this year, obviously. Would you all say that being a GT is a little better than being rejected and a little worse than being waitlisted (on some kind of imaginary acceptance spectrum)?

You get a list of required courses you can choose from…and the min. GPA is between 3-3.3 depending on your college! Otherwise, the transfer process is fairly simple ;)
I got my GT (ILR) last year and the process was not bad at all…

Gosh…these GT threads are sooo exciting…the whole thought of going to Cornell next year feels like a dream…ahhhhhh :)lol

GT >>>> Waitlist. Most waitlisted kids won't get in. GT's are in in a year. You choose...

how many of you guys with GT live in NY ?

i live in new york.
and i actually disagree with it being only slightly better than being rejected. because i did not get in, i am going to save a lot of money by doing my first year at a state school. and then there is basically a 100% chance of going to cornell. the only thing that i'm not excited about it making friends and such at a different school and then leaving.
