i just got a mail from cornell saying that they'll give me a "guaranteed transfer" if i manage a 3.2 gpa at an accredited instituion.

i plan on going to nyu this fall, and major in economics/math, but i was wondering if it was worth transfering to cornell next year?

Are you from New York? If so, you'd be getting a big tuition break by transferring. But you have time to make the decision. If you are happy at NYU, then don't transfer.

That tuition break only applies in CALS, ILR and HumEc.

Go to NYU for a year and then decide after. See how you like it and if the school fits your wants and needs.

Yeah, but if he has a guaranteed transfer, he is in one of those schools. Only the contract colleges give guaranteed transfers.

Thats not true, my friend got GT to CAS

Hey y17k, how the devil did you get a letter from them saying they would take you in with 3.2?

its 3.0 for alot of people...its for GT, not for freshman admissions. Also, 3.2 is low, but my HS GPA wasnt much higher.

Unless Cornell changed its policy from that in effect in 2002, a guaranteed transfer also required no grade under a 3.0.
