Guess I'll ask for my chances

All right, I am a Hispanic female and I am in the IB program at a large public school in Texas.

Rank: 60/1316
GPA: Around a 3.68 unweighted
New SAT: 750 CR, 760 M, 740 W
Old SAT: 800 V, 730 M (don't know if it counts, but just in case)
SAT IIs: 800 Lit, 710 US (I'll be taking Spanish in January and probably retaking US History as well)
ACT: 34 composite
APs: Human Geography 4, US History 5, English Language 5, Spanish Language 5

Current Courses:
IB Theory of Knowledge
AP European History (AP exam)
IB Spanish V (AP Spanish Lit exam and HL Spanish exam)
IB English IV (AP English Lit exam and HL English exam)
IB World Area Studies (HL History of the Americas exam)
IB Math Methods (AP Calculus AB exam and SL Math exam)
IB Theatre IV (HL Theatre exam)

ECs: I have acted in school plays since middle school, as well as done community theatre since 9th grade and even some professional plays around the Dallas area. Not sure if they would care, but I assistant directed a play this fall, and am directing my own one-act in the spring. I've been in the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) since 10th grade and am now Secretary for my council. I'm in Cappies, an organization of high school theatre critics, and I'm Lead Critic for my school.

Volunteer: I've had to do 150 CAS hours for IB, but I've also volunteered over 60 hours at my community theatre and done about as much with LULAC (over what I can count for CAS).

Awards:
National Merit Semi-Finalist
National Hispanic Recognition Scholar
AP Scholar with Distinction
Several Acting awards from my school, UIL competitions, and community theatres
UIL individual score award for Literary Criticism

Essay: My main one is about how taking theatre classes helped me open up and learn to talk to people. It's not really mind-blowing, but I think I have a lot of "voice" in it.

Major: B.A. in Theatre and (if double major is possible) Comparative Literature

Applying to:
Columbia
Princeton (obviously my insanely insane "dream"-type schools, but I'll be sending supplemental monologue tapes to both)

USC (applying to the Theatre School, but not for B.F.A, so no audition)
Sarah Lawrence
SMU (applying to Meadows, so I have to audition)

Drew University
SUNY Purchase (safety schools)

I'm also applying to UT Austin, but because of the top 10% rule, I'm automatically accepted.

Yes yes yes, chances are great I would say.

Don't consider those Ivies to be out of reach dreams, I think they're more in the reach/match range. Your scores are fantastic, EC's fantastic, courseload fantastic. Your GPA could certainly be better, but is something to be proud of in an IB program. I can't comment on your ability to get in to the theatre programs but I would certainly say you have a good chance at admission at all those schools.

Good luck!

SMU- Safety
Sarah Lawrence, USC- Match
Columbia, Princeton- Reach for everyone. Good luck.

everywhere you apply - match

i can see you goign to princeton

I don't know about Columbia and Princeton, but I will say that if you're really talented in the theatre department, the supplemental tape can only help you. I think you'll definitely get into SLC and most likely USC (positively into the university, depends on your supplement for the theatre school). I think SMU Meadows is pretty tough for acting, but with your other credentials, they'll want you regardless.

Don't give up on your top two, though. Just work really hard on any extra things you can put in.

Your GPA/Class rank hurts a bit--I'm not sure how much weight they will place on that. But overall, good chances everywhere! Wouldn't be surprised if you made it to Columbia or Princeton =D

Thanks, everyone :D I'll be happy with Sarah Lawrence, but I think I would spontaneously combust if I got into Columbia. It's true about my rank/GPA sadness, but that's okay.

In everywhere

BTW you probably go to the same school as this person
