Guest hours

How strictly are they enforced? and how do they even know if you bring someone in who isn't a resident, especially in a huge dorm like Jester? are the guest hours in your dorm inconveniently tight?

Down the hall, I swear to you there is a family in ten staying ove rand I hope it’s a private room; if I was the roommate I would be furious.

Security in San Jacinto was notoriously tight with guards at all exits and potential sneaking in points. The only way I ever got someone in was either before guest hours ended or by officially having them sign in as a guest. If your guest is the same sex as you, they can sign in with their DL # and stay for up to 72 hours, I believe. You can have two overnight guests at the same time.

At the other dorms, it was easy to sneak people in except for Kinsolving and Littlefield because they were all-girls…but it could be done.

Prather was as simple as could be. We had a few side doors. People on the inside opened them at like 2pm, we walked in fine. No issues at all. Also good for when you’re too drunk and you don’t want to walk past the front desk/swipe your ID.

Roberts and Brackenridge, you could use your ID to open the main door to the common room at any time of the day. They have no front desk, so you can just walk in. Nobody was stopping you from swiping in and walking in with 50 people.

Oh I miss Prather, and the one lone guard who was never at the door. ~memories~

I thought I read something like a month or two ago that said UT did away with visiting hours… wish I could remember where I read it :(

Edit: and by did away with, I mean that you could have guests 24/7

Nope, I remember reading that too, but it never was enacted. Guest hours were just extended. Read here for more than you want to know: [Division of Housing and Food Service - Guests](<a href=“UHD Homepage | University Housing and Dining”>UHD Homepage | University Housing and Dining)

How’s things going at Duren?

What do you mean exactly? How is it sneaky people in? I imagine it would be very hard since it’s their newest dorm and a San Jac clone.

Then i bet it’s easy to sneak guests in/out of the honors quad since you can access all three buildings with one card. rgrgrrrrasdfgh;; i hope people aren’t bringing in loud obnoxious people all the time

IIRC, it isn’t difficult to get people into the honors quad. That being said, if people are being obnoxiously loud past guest hours, you can call the front desk and complain and/or the RAs should be handling it.

Oh the tales of RAs…

What about jester?

I used to get snuck into jester and moore-hill all the time easily. Both my friends would just use some side door to let us in. San jac is where i lived and it was hard to sneak people in because there was always someone at a door entrance all night and they actually would watch the camera’s…but worst case scenerio is that they just had an ra escort the people out when we did get caught haha

Roberts/Brack would be the absolute easiest. We don’t even have a desk to have someone be at it. lol

Oh, I’m going to miss it here.

vacheespagole - care to elaborate on the tales of RAs? warn me or humor me if you will!

well, one time a guy who shall remain nameless but was apparently a football player tried to sneak people into his room at san jac. my friend was on call that night and so he had to go to said room and play RA guardman. anyway, when he goes to the room, he knocks and hears “just a minute”. after which, he hears lots of fumbling noises and giggling. when the door opens, he does his spiel, “look it’s past guest hours blah blah blah they’ll have to leave.” football player claims there’s no one there…don’t remember the details of how he entered the room, but my friend found 2 girls hiding in the shower in various states of undress. o_0

I’ll refrain from the exploding bowel movements story.

Sounds like he was having a good time with some “groupies”(in a way). The joys of college lol.
