Guidance counselor REPLACEMENT?!

People were scaring me about how colleges REQUIRED a guidance counselor letter of recommendation was required for schools like Cornell and such--- I did some research and its not(im pretty sure -- http://admissions.cornell.edu/apply/first-year-applicants/admission-requirements)

But also, my guidance counselor just had a baby (yay) but shes out until like february so now I go to her replacement for college stuff. I just need somebody to make this clear to me, COLLEGES DONT REQUIRE GUIDANCE LETTER OF REC's RIGHT? I looked it up for RISD, Cornell, CMU, and Syracuse-- im sorry, im just really paranoid and dont want to get a letter of rec from a person i dont really know.

A counselor recommendation is required for all of your common application schools.

@hagzzz‌ WHAT!?!?!

I dont even know this guidance counselor replacements name

Yes, all common app schools have a guidance counselor rec.

Yes you need one and then 2 separate letters of recommendation from your teacher. Go to a replacement counselor, there must be a process to take over when the counselor goes on maternity.

It’s not like she didn’t know this was coming for the last nine months - I’m sure they have a plan in place. Just go ask what it is. For all you know, the GC on leave already wrote a lot of the letters before she had the baby or left notes on each student.
