Guidance counselor said I have no chance at top schools. Native American female artist w/ a 3.4 GPA?

@MYOS1634‌: I think the program requires a 3.0 GPA at the initial school, then literally the student is guaranteed a transfer into Cornell. Naturally, the program is viewed with some suspicion by other colleges, as they are not officially made aware that the student they have recently accepted will be likely to transfer out.

artisticnative SO HAPPY FOR YOU!

That is a great situation, many kids in my town were offered it and took advantage of it. They treat these students in a special manner even giving them separate orientation when they arrive. This is a long standing program and works very well, my nephew did it 25 years ago. Never met a kid who was unhappy taking this offer. Congratulations!

@artisticnative‌ My two daughters are native, with very delineated ties to their indigenous homelands and community. Both got accepted at Ivies, one decided to go to CAL, and one is currently at an Ivy. That said, I would love to say you are in the neighborhood for the Ivy family, but your GPA and test scores, even with that legitimate hook, make is very slim.

You can still make admission to a number of really top flight schools, but some of that will depend on you doing your homework on these schools, and seeing what is the best fit. Certainly try to raise your GPA and test scores, and you will still be in prime shape for many good schools. Best–

@boolaHI She got into Cornell.
