guitar in dorm room

is an acoustic guitar ok for the dorm room? i'm in high school obviously, and i have no idea.

What about an electric? =D

Acoustic? Of course!
Electric? Quietly or loudly on a Friday or Saturday night

Many people have electrics here. As long as it's not too loud in the dorm rooms, it should be fine. Many people practice outside on sunny days or take advantage of the music practice rooms in dorms.

one of the RAs in my dorm has his guitars with him, you can definitely hear the amp sometimes but it's not obnoxious. (you can hear it in the hall, but not in the rooms)

just make sure your roommate's fine with it and you should be good

there are also some computer programs where you can hook up an electric to your computer, so you can totally control the volume

There are also some headphone kits you can get where you can run the guitar stright into headphones... I forgot how specifically it worked (since you still need an amp). I believe however it was similer to a DI Box, just with a small amp in it. We used to have them at work (I was a sound mixer for a Six Flags park) though we never used them.

i play guitar too.

will there be enough room if i bring my acoustic guitar, electric guitar, 10" amplifier?

should i then go for a single instead of a double?

Some amps even have the large headphone jacks on them...

I have an electric in my room but no amp for now. My roommate is nice and doesn't mind but I just play when she's gone for the weekend.

I'm worried about bringing my electric to college because it's quite expensive (about $1400). Should I be worried?

How about a harmonica? There is no faster way to meet people than by learning to play a harmonica on a dorm floor.

jpps1... it should be fine if you take care of it. I have like $6000 worth of instruments at school (2 saxophones, and 1 baritone), though most of it is stored in the music building.

you'll be fine. For electric guitar, get a POD.

I've kept my 1962 Strat in my dorm room before. It own every other guitar ;)

'62 Reissue or actual vintage?

I've got a '52 Reissue Tele...beautiful guitar.

actual vintage. it's nice and beat up - perfect in every way.

I have a Fender custom-shop relic 60's strat that i'll play otherwise. Also have the same thing in the 1956 model. And the 60's tele custom model.

i could go on and on with my guitar junk...

****. I have to transfer and room with you.

i had my vintage 68 fender mustang in my dorm room and it was fine. just don't leave your door standing wide open with your guitar sitting there smiling at everyone who passes by when nobody is in the room ;)

well i bought a roland micro cube.
it's really small but good.

I'm too lazy to hook up my electric guitar to my amp, so I just play it unplugged, unless I really need to use some effects.

Anyway, I have the same question as CornellOwnzED10':

"will there be enough room if i bring my acoustic guitar, electric guitar, 10" amplifier?

should i then go for a single instead of a double?"

if my roomate brings a guitar to college im gonna pop em
