Guns, Germs, And Steel....

Has anyone had to read this book for AP World History or is it just my high school? If so, was it good? I am just starting it by the way.

The book is good. The movie is baaaad.

Its terrible, may god have mercy on your soul.

I LOVE the movie!!! “Why you white men have so much cargo, when we New Guineans have so little?”; “Oim Jared Doiiiimond”; and the arrows charging westward to exciting music - it’s a cinematic classic

I loved the book. The movie was blah…but at least the teacher didn’t give homework the days we watched it.

I didn’t know there was a movie. Maybe I will watch it after I am done with the book.

Does this have anything to do with Germany?

Not really.

more like the geographical reason as to why white people have wealth (and it’s just that africa and s america are terrible places to get animals and nutritional food)

I only saw parts of the movie, and the movie does suck but it’s hilarious how they say “…AND IT WAS ALL DUE TO…GUNS. GERMS. AND STEEL!” every five freakin’ seconds.

the book says it slightly less often, but all you really need to read are like 3 chapters of it because it’s otherwise just repeating itself.

oh, and I hate that book, I just vomited at seeing this thread title

I got it for $2 (used-new) at a book sale. Excellent bargain for a great book! Did not know there was a movie though.

Also, I just realized that what I typed above sounds totally like spam. XD

hated the movie. the guy reminded me of ray barone

We read sections of it for AP Human Geography. And, it was on the list of recommended books for Ap World History book reports. I think I may have pretended to have read it in full, but who remembers?

Don’t be hatin’. The movie was a classic.

We have an option to read it in my ap environment class, but I opted out

I read it for kicks before 9th grade, on the way to football camp. Absolutely loved it. Someone once described it to me as “300 excruciating pages about different sizes of grain” but I thought it was fascinating. It makes me feel totally badass whenever I eat my carbs now.
