That’s bad. But is that mistake really going to outweigh an otherwise great application? Maybe, maybe not. Sorry I’m so vague, but I don’t want to tell you for sure one way or the other. Good luck!

Hehe that’s a big ooooops

Guys please help!!! I applied to Villanova BS/MD. **** how i could so stupd!!!
Im a ■■■■■■.

All I can really say here is “ouch.”

Has this ever happened to somebody before? **** im so ****ed.

sorry, but how did you manage that? don’t people usually spend a lot of time on their college essays, writing and re-writing and reading and re-writing again and correcting and re-writing? i could see this maybe happening in an interview, when you don’t really have time to think your answers through, but in an essay? i’m sorry, but that’s just stupid.

Well the essay was actually for an english class. We were writing college essays and my college was Duke for the essay. Since i didn’t have time to make a Commonapp essay for Villanova, I used the Duke essay (which was not intended to be a commonapp essay) for villanova and forgot to take out Duke.

Eh whatever I am screwed anyways. **** this ****. Maybe i’ll just go to a community college…

Look on the bright side… it would have been a lot worse if you had Villanova on the Duke essay. I’m betting you get accepted, since you were in the upper 75 percentile…

There’s still duke!

Don’t worry about it. The admission’s office will get a small chuckle out of it and realize that it was a simple mistake.

AHAHA Your screwed…LoL jk i doubt anyone will care.

Personally, I would contact them and tell them you accidentally attached the wrong essay and then send them a new, Villanova-specific essay (not just the same essay with Duke switched out for Villanova).

^you do realize that the deadline for nov. 1 has passed right?

I like glasses suggestion. It is better to show to that you realize a mistake was made.

I believe the OP met the deadline. There is no deadline for updating a complete application. The best case you can make is to convince them that you sincerely would attend if accepted. Colleges that think you are listing them as a safety school will not want to admit someone that will hurt their yield. It hurts their stats. If you are sincere, make personal contact. If you really don’t want to go there, learn from the mistake.

This actually happens more than you think. I have attended a number of info sessions where this error has been mentioned. This alone will not cause you to be rejected - so stop panicking. What I would do - find out who is the Villanova regional rep for your state - this is the person who will read your file first. E-mail this person - apologize for the careless error - and then let it go. Everyone makes mistakes. Colleges understand that you are applying to multiple schools. They get that you are stressed and overwhelmed - they are people too and most who work in admissions are fairly young and will be sympathetic.

Let the regional rep know that you are sincerely interested in Villanova; however, do not make any type of rash promise that you will attend if accepted - that will ring hollow at this point. So - do what you can to fix the error - and then move on.

Is there a website i go to to find out my regional rep?

Nvm i got the website. Thank you all so much for your help
