I usually stick to American Eagle (good for casual), Izod (dressier), and John Ashford (they're cheap, and it means I'll still have a polo to wear if the occasion calls for it, and all my others are dirty). And I have a few Tommy Hilfiger shirts that still fit, but I don't buy those anymore.

And on a related note, do you feel the different brands are both price increases/decreases, or do you think that its just the same shirt with a different logo, and you'd be crazy to pay extra for a brand?

I like AE too. I don't really wear polos that much but most of the ones I do have are from there (except a red one, which I had to buy when I worked at Target, that is from JCPenney). I think they are all made sort of different. To be honest, I'd never pay full price for a Ralph Lauren Polo brand polo shirt again after the last (and only) one I've bought from them shrunk and got distorted in the wash.

I like the American Eagle vintage shirts for casual wear, and Luis (a Korean brand) for a chic fit. Lacoste is also pretty good and I've heard good things about Hollister from friends who actually buy there. I also have several Tommy shirts as "backups" but they still fit great.

I think brand name is pretty important, since there's a general social stigma attached to each. Tommy Hilfiger apparel gets me those "you're old school" looks from even my modest friends. AE is generally considered pretty "in" right now, although not as much as it used to be. I usually find AE stuff to fit me fairly well though, and I think that's the most important thing.

And damn...you just can't make polos like those stylish Koreans do. Best 60 bucks ever.

All Polos look the same. Anybody who judges people based on not even real fashion or style, but by the tiny 0.5 inch x 0.5 inch logo on the left breast deserves to have a badger sink its teeth into their cheeks and rip their face off.

Except if someone passes negative judgment on a person who's wearing A&F polos. That's totally justified.

Passing judgement on those that are now in college and still wearing American Eagle, Abercrombie, Aeropostale, or Hollister is perfectly acceptable. You're in college now go buy some Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Brooks Brothers, or Vineyard Vines polos.

Um, some of us are poor and can't exactly afford Ralph Lauren or Lacoste! I don't wear A&F or Hollister because they are too expensive too and there's not a Hollister near here anyway. Aeropostale's stuff is total crap which is why I don't wear that. AE's stuff is decent and is moderately priced compared to those other places, esp. on sale. Not everyone has parents that pay for everything.

mostly it's the cut of the shirt differs from brand to brand. more "youthful" brands will usually fit closer to the body and have shorter, slimmer sleeves. even those more apathetic to fashion will at least notice that one shirt fits better (and thus often looks better) than another. maybe comparing A&F to AE...yeah, that's pretty trivial and useless. but Izod and Hollister...you can at least see some difference.

that said, i rarely wear polos and do occasionally pass judgment on those that wear A&F, AE, etc. if i do, the only ones i have are from Paul Frank, Hurley, and Volcom. they're more "alternative" brands and it shows in their prints and cuts.

I have a ton of lacoste and RL polos, and like 2 A&F and AE ones, but I'm trying to move away from polos and start using more tshirts. I love my wierd abstract t-shirts, they get me way more compliments than my polos lol

I like Ralph Lauren polos. I like most of their clothes, except for jeans. I can't seem to find jeans that fit at RL. Either they don't have my size or the legs aren't wide enough.

I personally prefer the polos from Champs Sports. They're cheap, there's no logo, and they're just fine. I'm not looking for style points. On the price part, you can typically pick up 3 of them for 20 bucks!

Also, I like the adidas polos I've got. I've got three that are made of their Climacool material that will really pay off at school the next couple of years.

my fav polos are ralph lauren, lacoste, and tommy hilfiger, in that order.

social implications aside (since these brands get judged pretty similarly by most people, and I dont fit into that mold), lacoste is probably the best value for money i've seen. lacoste polos are really durable (i've had ones that last for over 3 years!), but i like polo's cut a bit more, for some reason.

congratulations, you're all branded, walking cattle in a slaughterhouse, just following what everyone else does so you are easily manipulated by the brands. Conformity makes me sick.
