GW Chances?

I visited GW the other day, and am absolutely in love with the school. What are my chances of being accepted/getting a non-need-based scholarship? (I apologize for the lengthiness)

State: PA
White Female
GPA: 4.4 weighted, 4.0 unweighted
Rank: top 10%, that's as far as my school ranks.

I am a rising senior and I've taken Honors Biology, Honors Chemistry, Honors Physics, Honors Algebra II, Honors Geometry, Honors Analysis (pre-calc), Honors American Studies I, Honors American Studies II, AP World History, Honors English 9, Honors English 10, AP English Language, Accelerated French II, Honors French III, Honors French IV, and Choir, and have gotten straight As (one or two A-). Next year I am taking AP Euro, AP Physics I/II, AP French, AP English Lit, AP Calc BC, and choir.

SAT: 2160 (Math: 700, CR: 680, Writing: 780)
SAT II: Physics: 720, Math 2: 680, French: 680
I'm planning on taking the SAT I again in October and SAT IIs again in November,

Extra-curriculars:
Choir (all 4 years, I've been in every choir possible including Honors choirs through the state, I also have a leadership position which is more or less an assistant choir director)
School Theatre (all 4 years, I've been in the shows, been the Assistant Stage Manager, and been a Co-Student Musical Director/Rehearsal Pianist for every musical since my freshman year)
French Honor Society (Co-president, we collect money for Medecins sans Frontieres and we clean up around the school grounds every year among other things)
Political Science Club
National Honor Society
Math Honor Society
Science Honor Society
English Honor Society
Social Studies Honor Society
Music Honor Society
I tutor through several of the honor societies.
I also taught myself piano, and I'm currently teaching myself guitar and German.

Community Service:
Community Theatre - I am involved with a student-run theatre company that puts on free shows for the community. I have acted in the shows, as well as musically directed one and accompanied two on piano.
Special Olympics - I've volunteered for the Special Olympics games at Villanova University multiple times.
Public Library - I volunteer at my local library weekly.
PYC - I volunteered for this youth choir as a rehearsal assistant.

Work:
Currently I have a part time job at a grocery store, and during the fall I also work at a haunted hayride, so I hold two jobs at once.

Awards/Distinctions:
Harvard Book Award - awarded by my school's math department to a student who excells in math, as well as other subject areas, and who helps others who struggle.
County Choir (auditioned group made up of the best singers in the county) and District Choir (my county plus a neighboring county)

Definitiely YES to acceptance. I’d also say a very good chance of a Presidential Scholarship from 20-25K/year. Probably some grant aid too!

Great Stats!

CJ

Thanks for your opinion! Is it worth taking the SAT I/II again? I’d like to apply EDI, and FA is an important factor, so I want to do all I can to make sure I can afford to go.

I always recommend students take the SAT at least twice - unless you’re near perfect 750’s or above in all 3 sections. Taking it again in Oct is reasonable since GW will superscore your SAT’s.

The one variable about applying EDI to GW is that “theoretically” they don’t have to offer you as much FA since you will be signing an agreement to attend if accepted.

However, when we spoke with GW FA advisors a few years ago they said they use the same formulas whether ED or RD to calculate the FA award.

I’m still sketical about his though - since when applying ED to any college they essentially “hook” you with a contract to attend if accepted.

CJ

I do not think you’ll have any problem getting in. I myself applied EDII and got $0, when another equally ranked school gave me about 30 grand. It may have been the luck of the draw, but I really think that ED kids receive less FA. But if you need need-based aid, GW is very good at giving out $ for that. However, if the school is your number one choice, ED does get you guaranteed housing of your choice (which is awesome, because the new dorms rock) and you find out extremely early which means you can transfer out of all your second semester AP courses ;P

P.S. You should be applying to Georgetown :P

Why, if she’s in love with GW? We know it’s higher ranked, but Georgetown and GW differ in many ways and appeal to people for different reasons.

I will be relying on financial aid, but at the same time GW is my first choice (if I get enough money, that is) and I don’t want to wait until March to find out :/

I actually did a program at Georgetown last summer. I really liked it there (not as much as GW, though), but my issue is that they only give need-based aid which probably wouldn’t be enough. I might still apply there, though.

In without a doubt, probably get into honors program too if you apply for that
