GWU Early Decision 1 2019

I bet it’s tomorrow, because historically, GW loves Thursdays.

how do you know? @schmohawk‌

Has anyone heard anything? This week has been so long!!!

This morning someone tweeted admissions, and they said “no updates yet we will let you know etc”

Do you guys think when they tweet “no updates yet” it means that decisions won’t be released that day?

Just called and they said it will be released sometime between today and the 23rd.

If they are telling us on Friday I think they would just say it was going to be this Friday and stop telling us they have no update. I think it’ll be sometime over the weekend or Monday. I am going to start some more applications, because if I don’t get in I need to have some more options. It’s just really frustrating when early action people who can apply to more than one school have already been notified. We will just have to be patient.

somebody should email their regional representative and ask the details. because the people who answer the phones are essentially secretaries and are thus less likely to know when the results will be released.

just to update you all… gw admissions office does not close until the 23rd, so essentially we can hear back the latest tuesday and it is a guarantee we will hear back before the holidays

GW is the only school in the country with this degree of anti-transparency.

I understand that things happen and the office could’ve gotten behind because of technical issues, etc., but it’s really frustrating that they won’t explain that to us or give us some sort of information about what’s going on. when we applied ED they said we’d be notified on or before the 15th, so I just wish we could’ve gotten a heads-up email saying that it was going to be later so we can work on other apps and prepare for the worst. it just doesn’t seem fair to keep us guessing and waiting without acknowledging that the deadline was clearly going to be pushed back.

ugh sorry for the rant i’m just unhappy :frowning:

It’s a justifiable rant. It’s ridiculous IMO that they’re just stonewalling the people who need this decision because it deeply affects their college application process, acceptance or rejection.

I don’t think I’m in, I just need that verification to move on… Sigh

Does anyone know how we will find out this year? Via email? Via admissions portal? Will they send an email the day of or the day before? Do we have any chance of finding out tomorrow? Will they ever tell us what the delay was?

We will find out on the admissions portal. They send an email the day of to let us know that it will come later that day, at least that is what I was told when I called. Historically it has been put up at 5 or 6 pm, but the email is sent earlier in the day. We likely won’t know what the delay was because there is no reason the admissions staff has to release that information. I know we’re all frustrated but I’m sure they’re frustrated in admissions as well since something has to be causing the delay. We’ll all know soon enough but my advice is to work on other applications now. Obviously it will be a waste if you get in, but if you get denied or deferred and you only have a few days or weeks to send in other applications you’re not going to want to have the stress of that on top of the stress of not getting into what is clearly all of our dream school. There are plenty of early action schools (michigan, boston college, etc.) who aren’t sending anything out until the 24th or 25th so the fact that we’ll know by the 23rd makes me consider myself luckier than those who won’t. Good luck to everyone, and I know this is easier said than done but try not to stress out about it too much; we’ll all know soon.

@lrieck‌ are you sure they’d send out an email the day of and not the day before?

@skeliz they send out the email the day of

my college counselor called today and they’re trying to post them by tomorrow night but didn’t want to commit to anything

I think @baltimore13 is right. This Friday is the absolute latest date we’d receive notification in my impression. But hey, they’re political folks; don’t want to commit until it’s a certainty.

So do they defer ED applicants or only accept/reject?
