GWU Elliott School of International Affairs- How hard is it to get in? Can I do it?

Thank you so much for your help in advance, ( I am kind of desperate as you can tell )

Should I consider it a reach?
I have a 3.6 UW GPA, and a pretty high weighted GPA
( HUGE Upward trend in the GPA) I have straight A’s and one B in all IB classes, at a rather renowned high school.
A rigorous academic load:
All honors and 3 APs in 9th and 10th grade, Full IB Diploma programe in 11th and 12th
I’m hoping for my teacher in Global Politics (basically IR) to give me a good rec letter (I think I am one of his top students).

Sadly, didn’t participate in MUN, because I had just moved to the U.S., so I didn’t know what MUN was or about the fact that getting involved into clubs was necessary for a good college app. I went to a small public school, where the MUN club was run by a very crappy and unmotivated teacher, consisting of an all boy group. I then (thank God I did) moved to a much better private school but the MUN club was full :frowning:

Don’t really have much more that could impress the college than what I mentioned above :frowning:

Also: I haven’t taken SAT’s yet, but I’m hoping for a 1250-1300 (my math score is what really brings me down)

Oh and for extracurriculars, my biggest one is ballet: I have done it and stuck with it since a very young age. However, I moved a lot in my life (4 countries total) and that has impaired my ability to really thrive in it.
Also, I speak 3 languages fluently – and when I mean fluently, I mean no accent whatsoever, like perfectly – (I hate it when people say the can speak several languages but it turns out they can’t even say a sentence in that language)
Thought that could help for International relations
(Russian, French and English)

Your essays are probably going to be key here. Also demonstrated interest. Make sure you visit the school and reach out to the admissions counselor in your area. My D had similar GPA and did get in, she did have many EC’s. though.

It’s really hard to say without actual test scores, and what you “think” you might get isn’t the best thing to judge. Also, your lack of EC’s will definitely hurt you, especially since GW seems to value a well-rounded applicant that has lots of community service and/or time on teams/leadership positions.
