@GWdreamteam1998 Ah it keeps starring it out probably because you just have to request first but just search George Washington University Class of 2020 and they’ll accept you to the group lol !!
@alexxxcee i know i just put Facebook.com in place of the stars
@Ivanne Here’s the thing…if you qualified for FA at American I can’t believe you wouldn’t at GW (I feel horrible telling your what happened to us, I didn’t mean to make your stress worse). Did your daughter receive a scholarship? What is the bottom line you need to get her there? If you plan to take parent plus loans, I suggest using the PPL calculator to determine the difference in the payment.

@HappyFace2018 I hope you are right. Our efc is less than the tuition at gw. We don’t know if she got a scholarship. She talked to the admissions officer Friday and he asked if she still wanted to be considered for admission. She said yes. She never received any emails from gw after she hung up but when she checked her portal later it said she was accepted. So it’s kind of a weird situation. Her dream is to be in DC and wants to study international relations. At this point AU is cheaper even though I know GW is a higher ranked school. I keep praying for a sign!
@Ivanne I wish well for your daughter but you should stick with AU although it isn’t as high ranked because GW is really expensive and I think we’d all hate for her to lose a spot at another great school because another didn’t want to help her financially. GW had a small endowment which limits how much money they can give students in financial, institutional aid. I’ll be praying over here that she hears good news but we all have to be prepared to use our back up plans. Congratulations to her and your family again if I hadn’t already!
@alanislguerra where did you commit to for now?
@Ivanne So excuse my language but WHAT THE HELL! How in the hell can they change the damn portal and not update scholarship information! Okay so here’s additional information. When my sweet hubby and I attended the financial aid portion of the Inside GW Day I asked the director of financial aid about the fact that my baby-girl didn’t receive any FA. I explained that she received a scholarship but the difference between that scholarship and our EFC ($40,000) left a small amount of need. He said (and I quote) “GW does not cover demonstrated need.” Then I asked “can she apply for grants?” His response was “while scholarships are guaranteed, grants are not. Grants depend on the amount of money GW receives from private donors each year.”
Another parent said “so you mean the $20,000 grant my child received this year she may not receive not year!” His response “that is correct”.
Remember this, GW is need aware not need blind. In addition, many wait listed students receive no scholarship because the school has gone through it’s pot of money. Also, many students selected through RD receive no scholarship or aid. This means that if they decline admission there is no money going back into the pot to apply to other wait listed students.
What really sucks is GW does not make there final FA decisions until mid-June. This is went they have made their final review of tax information in comparison to the FAFSA. At that time any FA received can be decreased if there is a discrepancy.
when @HappyFace2018 thinks hell is cursing.
@GWdreamteam1998 Boston University but I wasn’t notified whether or not there are NROTC spots at the BU host unit so I can’t go there unless there are spots, otherwise I would have to pay out of pocket and I can barely keep my brothers fed never mind pay 60k a year for college
and @HappyFace2018 yeah I understand the whole need aware situation which is somewhat invigorating to those of us who strove throughout school to be good students to still have pay for our poverty in the end
@alanislguerra oh i applied there and got rejected. what is NROTC
