GWU Waitlist 2016

@GWdreamteam1998 SAME.

@alanislguerra are you applying for Colombian college of arts and science?

@GWdreamteam1998 that’s my second choice but I’m more of a elliot school of international relations kind of girl, no worries hopefully we won’t be fighting for the same spot

@alanislguerra HAHAHAHA ya i doubt it! you seem way more advanced than me! Im the other way around so my first choice is CCAS and my second is ESIR. but at the end I’m planning to do a double degree so that i can go into journalism and IR

OH! what is the school that you are currently committing to?

sorry I’m asking all these questions I’m just super excited to make a friend through the hell of a process this is

I’m curious what are some of the back up schools if you don’t get into GWU?

@Ivanne
mine is Uni. of la verne

@lvanne Boston, URI, Northestern but not really because I got my full ride scholarship applied to GW so I have to go through this long process of finding spots for the program at my backups before I can select and enroll in them…

and @GWdreamteam1998 I just said the elliot school of international relations lol

@fhgirl16 what were your sister’s stats like and what major did she choose, congrats btw

@alanislguerra 4.23 weighted GPA, 5 APs and all possible honors classes, solid extracurriculars. Biggest weakness was probably applying test optional.

@fhgirl16 only five for all four years?

@alanislguerra we go to a small(ish) private school that only offers six AP classes; in addition, you are only allowed to take one junior year, with the rest available to you senior year (so, if you must know, she has only omitted one). This is because our school has a rigid core curriculum that builds upon itself every grade level–APs are the last step of the process. So, as a result, these classes (with the exception of one available to juniors) are designated for seniors. This is all included in the school profiles that were sent to our colleges; neither of us are penalized for the “lack” of APs on our transcript.

Lastly, not to be rude, but I don’t really feel like I even needed to write the above and justify the number of AP classes in the first place. You asked for her stats, and I was happy to give them so as to provide a reference. But how does asking the above question help you? It only seems to imply that you don’t think she deserved to be taken off the waitlist, or that you believe there were more worthy candidates. Sorry, but she IS extremely qualified, and the fact that she was one of the first candidates taken off the waitlist reflects this. Not to mention she recieved a very generous financial aid package. I apologize if I am reading into this too much, but the college admissions process has, quite frankly, sucked for her. She was rejected from every one of her reach schools and waitlisted from all of her targets (GW was intially one of these). Until getting accepted on Monday, it looked like she was going to have to attend a safety school that she really, really didn’t like. She was very down about it and even considered taking a gap year so she could reapply next fall. This was all made worse by the fact that I was accepted early to my top school (Gtown) way back in December.

Sorry about my rant, but it is a bit of a touchy subject… and as you can tell, I really love my sister :slight_smile:

All of this said, I wish you all the best and I hope the waitlist works out for you!!! I am sure you deserve a spot in the class of 2020 as well.

@fhgirl16 I absolutely love your support of your sister and congratulations to you both =D> :x

@HappyFace2018 thank you! congrats to your daughter as well! :slight_smile:

Are we supposed to be hearing by May 2nd? So officially we will hear by this upcoming Monday?

@LailaSultani I think so. I hope so

Just got off the phone with GW!! They called and asked if GW was still my top choice and I said yes they said my profile was pulled and they’re taking it to committee and I’ll know if I’m in by tomorrow !

And now my app is under review
