So,
I got a mail today inviting me to attend GYLC - Global Young Leaders Confernce.
Turns out It will cost around 2.5 Lakhs to attend the conference. I want to know that is there any alternate way of paying for it? Sponsors, Scholars?
Will surely like to hear from past attendees. :)

Just search CC. There are scores of old threads. E.g. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/international-students/295895-wha-gylc.html (2007).

A bit too expensive, don’t you think?

Is it worth the money even?

You should ask someone who has actually been there. (But I would think that it’s not.)

I didn’t attend. But my instinct says that it is a thing for the rich! :p

Have the money? Go ahead and participate. It will boost your resume.
Don’t have the money? Don’t worry, there are a lot of other things which are helpful to do & don’t cost a single penny.

Yeah trust me:)…there are things waiting for you to do:D…this looks a bit expensive:(

confusedhexagon, trying to find someone like that.
(cool username btw :D)

Rishav, any advice for a person who has half the moooney?
My dad’s not going to pay. I’ll have to. I have around 150k to shell. So, most probably i won’t be able to attend. :(

quiver, where are those things?
Btw this 10 day trip looks more like a holiday than a con-ference. Who won’t like to enjoy touring the US. :P

This is NOT going to boost your application, I think we can all agree on that. ;)

quiver, are you really a fox?
P.S- Teri toh keh le lunga

Gow fever. :P

I am foxy enough:P Look around you…There are always tons of things you are curious about…those are most valuable and powerful in “YOUR” context.:)

confusedhexagon, yeah! We do agree.
I will try finding sponsors. See if they can help. But the invitation does seem impressive. It may impress the low-lying people here in Bihar.
P.S- i’m going to be a celebrity. :P

There are SOME things quiver. Btw hw was your phy paper. I heard that the cbse paper was a total disaster. Was it so bad? :O

BTW you guys know about the process of enrolling for APs?

Physics was OK…maybe a few marks…here and there…else good:)

you’re a genius!
Expecting 60+ ?

@codeguy - Wait, you have 1.5 lakh of your own??
If you do - then use it wisely!!

This conference is not worth it.

But again, I don’t know of anything to do with that money!! I’d put it in a bank & use it for my expenses if I were to end up in the USA. Haha!!

There are loads of other things - try using your skills to help people around you. That is WAY WAY MORE impressive than a conference.

Yeah! I work as a part time web developer. So, that’s the money i saved from my earnings.
Well, I saved it for a bike. (yeah! I don’t have one.) but after listening to you. I’m not going to waste it now. Will find a better use. :)

Seriously rishav? 12:30 A.M. Are you nocturnal? :P

Yeah…codeguy…You’ll get used to him…right @Rishav.

and yeah hopefully 60+
