So, just a question to any current SD students or alumni, what are the gyms like at UCSD? The only college gyms I've seen before are the ones at Berkeley, and their freaking amazing. I like going to the gym for the most part, but I'm a girl so I want more than just weights and stuff. Can anyone tell me what the gyms are like at SD?

better than columbia’s, no questions asked.

but instead of opinons, you might like this link better: [UC San Diego Recreation - Main](http://recreation.ucsd.edu/)

personally, i was more of an outdoorsy person – summer afternoons frequently found me at la jolla shores, surfing or snorkeling with classmates. (the latter’s really cool, swimming 3 ft over dozens of guitarfish is an AMAZING feeling)

The gyms on campus cater more to cardio bunnies than weightlifters for the most part. They’re sufficient but get crowded in many different times of the day–which is what motivated me to buy a membership to 24 Hour Fitness.

Like astrina said, if you’re into more than weights or indoor gym sports like raquetball and such, La Jolla is an amazing place to run/swim/bike around.

Personally, I’m a cyclist but I see tons of people running up and down the coast. You can’t beat the scenery. Much better than staring at a wall in the gym.

RIMAC is the main gym but if you’re at Muir or Revelle, the Rec Gym is much closer and while it has older weight machines, it has badminton courts and a lap pool.

RIMAC isn’t as good as Cal’s gym, but it’s still one of the top UC gyms. Everything’s new, and there’s a ton of equipment. The only problem is that there isn’t that much space
