I was just wondering if anyone has ever heard of someone transferring to Haas in one year...since I figured I might as well try it since it wouldn't affect my chances of applying next year...though I'd like to feel a bit more hopeful than I do now of leaving cc in one year...>_> lol

have you competed all your pre reqs?

if you have then haas is pretty easy to get into (25% admitted)

It’s not easy if you have no AP credits(if it’s even POSSIBLE). If you have 24+ AP credits, it’s doable, but still difficult. I’d reccomend just takin’ it slowish.

And a 25% admittance isn’t something I would call easy. Have a 4.0, with IGETC+Req’s completed and a EC here or there, then maybe you’d be leading on the “definitely in” side.

^^true…if you have good grades, EC’s, and all the prereq’s done then it’s easy

if one of those things are off, it can be detrimental to your application

i’ll have all my prereqs except an english literature course, which isn’t considered an important majorprereq done by this quarter…and i’ll have all the breadth done by the end of the year…and i have about 45 ap units…as well as some units from the last couple of summers and concurrent enrollment in high school…and i currently have a 4.0 and don’t see my gpa dropping below a 3.9 (hopefully higher) by the time they consider my application…and i have some ec’s going from me (internship, work, led some projects for a nonprofit, expecting vice president of operations for an honors society, and may work as an agent in student government since i dont have time to become a senator) but what i was mainly interested in was hearing if anyone has actually ever heard of someone doing it in a year before…

if English lit is a required prereq for the major or for IGETC and you do not complete it by spring 11, you will not be admitted to haas no matter how high your GPA is. When do you plan on completing the course?

kudos on the 45 AP credits, I hope you’re not planning on going to grad school.

I already have it planned for next quarter, and I’m not really thinking about grad school…no way I can afford it lol, though what would be wrong with aiming for grad school? (I’m guessing it’s something obvious but since I’m not looking into grad school I know nothing about their admissions’ processes, I’m simply asking out of curiosity lol)

from my knowledge, most graduate programs don’t accept AP credits in lieu of college credit, they prefer that you actually take the class.

oh, even if they’re just general units that don’t count towards any sort of requirements whatsoever? lol…I don’t see why they would care if the units aren’t applied towards anything but graduation units (and then only if I need them, otherwise they wouldn’t even be counted in that), but then again there are so many quirky things in admissions processes so I have no problem believing you when they say they’d look unfavorably towards it…oh well, I wasn’t looking towards grad school anyways, but more options are always nice later on lol

anyways, back to the main point of the thread lol, has anyone ever heard of someone who’s been able to transfer to Haas in one year? or even tried to transfer to Haas in one year?

just check out the school’s website that you’re interested in applying to

hmm…so I suppose no one has ever heard of anyone even attempting to transfer to Haas in one year?

anyone? the silence is scary…

it is essentially, improbable. of course nothing is impossible in life. but unless ur taking at least 25 or so units this semester and in the spring u will not get in (and that’s assuming u have AP credit, AND that u received a 5 on ur econ, calculus, and english exams). i’m applying for fall 2010 and it’s difficult enough to finish in 2 yrs since haas doesnt accept IGETC. and even if u try to do it in 1 yr, u most likely dont have much time for ECs which is 15% of the application. the only way ur going to get in is if u actually qualify (duh) by completing all the prereqs and breadth requirements, get a 4.0, write the best essay ever, and also solve a few murder mysteries or find a cure for cancer. best of luck

lol, i’m on the quarter system which makes filling out all the breadth requirements a lot ezier plus i took both econs and a couple of breads over the past couple of summers, took calc during hs, and i have about 45ish ap units…i am doing some extensive volunteer work for a nonprofit where i’ve held some leadership positions and overseen some projects as well as have an internship and a job, though u’re right, they’re not the best of ec’s…i dont now if i can pull off a 4.0 but i’m sure it won’t drop to anything less than a 3.91 by the time fall grades come out when they review the app…i’m a bit concerned about my essays, but i’m not concerned with what ppl think of my chances so much as whether they’ve ever heard of someone having done it before…or even tried it before…

did anyone read the assist page? am I the only one reading their 7 course breadth?
"Guidelines:
- Requirements must be met with courses – no AP, IB or A level Exam credit;"

your AP credit counts as nothing… I had to repeat the courses I got AP credit on… AP credit used to count for the 9 course breadth, but they recently changed it to the new 7 course breadth…

I’m applying this semester too (right now I’m in my second year at a jc)

yes, i’ve read it numerous times and i’m well aware of that, i’m using the ap units solely to help me meet the minimum of 90 units required to transfer as a junior, not to meet any of the breadth or major requirements…

the minimum is 90 units now?

^90 QUARTER units. 60 semester units. or some crap like that. but who knows, Haas can change it anytime they want to 120 units to filter out more of the the incompetent fools

^hahahahaha

yea, 90 quarter units, and i dont think haas can actually up the number of minimum total units…haas just requires junior transfers for its two year program and the uc system as a whole states that 60/90 units makes u a junior…
