Hey guys,

This is my first time posting after ghosting these boards for so long. Anyways, I'm in a bit of a situation. I don't know how many people have done it but I'm attempting to transfer to UCLA or Berkeley after one year in community college.

Here's the story. I messed up my senior year of high school and had my admissions rescinded from UCLA in August because I violated the vary vague Provisional Contract. It sucked. So I took my ass to LA Pierce College and somehow calculated that I'd transfer after a year. I took 8 AP classes in high school, got 4s on all the exams, and so I started out Fall 2005 with 24 semester units... more than enough to reach 60 by Spring. At UCLA, my APs counted for 40 quarter units. So in UCLA terms, I had to come up with 50 quarter units in a year. Not a problem.

In Fall 2005, I finished my first semester with 4.0 GPA in 18 semester units and finished 6 more with As in Winter 06. At this point, I'm enrolled in 15 units, I will have my Major Prep, IGETC, and have TAP certification. Bottomline, I'll be in definite contention for Junior status with 98.5 quarter units for admission to UCLA.

Is there anyone else that's transferred after a year? I'm really worried because I got accepted to Irvine as a Sophomore instead of a Junior and I'm not even sure if Junior status could be granted to a person like me? I've asked UCLA and other admissions counselors if there were any snags in the rules that would prevent me but not too many people know exactly. UCLA tells me it's up to the admissions review board. I have a hard time believing I'm totally in the clear. Maybe I came here just to get some false reassurance. In any case, what do you guys think of my plight. Am I screwed? I've done everything right, right?
