Haas Transfer

I was on assist.org just reviewing the prereqs. Not sure if I'm understanding this correctly, but they say 60 uc transferable courses (which i knew) not including pre reqs. (Which is the first time I've heard this) haas prereqs is 40 units. That would he 100 total units!? There's no way this can be accurate.

I'm already at 69 units , taking 17 this semester and 15 next semester but I'm aplying this fall.

Any former ccc haas transfers that cab she'd light on this would be appreciated.

Can you please provide the link where you are having confusion?

I don’t know anything about Haas transfers, but I would think that it is 60 including the prereqs.

if you scroll down past foreign language to Haas 7 course breadth, it’s the first sentence.

(sorry, no imbed link for assist)

<a href=“Admissions - Undergraduate Program - Berkeley Haas”>Admissions - Undergraduate Program - Berkeley Haas;

however, their website doesn’t mention that pre reqs are excluded.

just to be clear. by the end of spring will will have all pre reqs done, well over 60 uc transferable credits, and be done with igetc (7 course breadth for haas). However I won’t have 60 uc credits + pre reqs

Hmmmm, that is interesting. I am going to summon @Cayton for his input.

This is also interesting:

“Breadth is a degree requirement for Haas, not an admission requirement. You are not required to complete the 7-course sequence while at the community college. The sequence must be completed before you graduate from
UC Berkeley.”

So it seems like for Haas admission you need at least the prereqs, but if needed could finish the breadth requirements once at the school?

Right, it seems a little misleading. How could one not finish the 7 course breadth if they need as many units as assist.org claims, or, how could one need as many units as assist.org claims if the 7 course breadth is not a transfer requirement.

Can you find an email for a Haas counselor? They would know.

I plan on calling tomorrow to get some clarification.

I looked at that link and it says 60 semester units. The word units is not highlighted, probably by accident.

40 pre-req plus some (or all) breadth is doable.

Which link? for the standard 4 semesters at a ccc, thats 25 units/semester. I did 6 semesters which is only 16.6, but that’s still a lot. By the time I’m ready to transfer I will have done the 40 pre req units, igetc,(and 7 course breadth) but wont be at 40 pre req units + 60 uc transfer units.

If this really is the case I couuld always apply to berkeley econ, it would just really hurt to have a single focused goal the past three years, be so close to it only to fall short because they wanted 100 total units. (compared to ut austin who wont accept me because i’m not closer to the 30 unit number they prefer)

I’m not sure where you’re getting 100 units.

http://web1.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=1&sia=IRVINE&ria=UCB&ia=IRVINE&oia=UCB&aay=14-15&ay=14-15&dora=BUS+ADM

this link. scroll past foreign language, first sentence under 7 course breadthe

It says the same thing. Complete pre-req and have at least 60 transferable units:

HAAS 7-COURSE BREADTH REQUIREMENT

Units earned for prerequisites and the foreign language requirement may not
equal the 60 semester (90 quarter) unit minimum required to transfer. If you
need to take additional courses to meet the unit requirement, consider taking
Breadth courses.

“May not equal” simply means it might not add up to 60 and you need to add some breadth to reach 60…

I’m looking at this major’s requirements on assist.org and it doesn’t seem to say that you have to earn 60 units apart from your pre-reqs. It wouldn’t make sense for them to require that of students anyway.

I considered that. But really, I can’t be too careful when applying to Haas. Especially considering that 1000 of 1400 Fall2013 transfers applicants were automatically disqualified from consideration for not having all transfer requirements completed. It’s the one thing Haas won’t budge on.

I do appreciate your responses though. And luckie’s as well.

Ultimately, I’m going to have to ask and hear it straight from the horses mouth.

even though I’m spending mine studying, happy labor day!

Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful!

Ironically, I’m spending my labor day working :/

No worries! You were part of the brainstorming process haha

Just to update:
Spoke with admissions who confirmed that it’s 60 uc units total.

That’s a sigh of relief. Now that its admissisions time im getting really stressed and being overly cateful about every little detail. These past two years have been an amazing growing experience and Ive learned so much in and out of the classroom. At first my goals seemed like a shot in the dark, but now I can’t believe it’s a real possibility. Being a high school drop out, I never thought I’d ever be in a position where going to berkeley would ever be a consideration haha.

It’s been a crazy, yet humbling ride, and it only makes me want to work harder.

Anyway, I’ll get off my soap box. Have a great week everyone!
