Hey guys! I have to decide which university I want to go to soon, and Mcgill is my no.1 choice right now, but being a muslim I am concerned as to whether or not halal food is offered at Mcgill. Can someone please answer this question? In addition, I recently found out that you can only live in residence during your first year, so what are my options after the first year? Thank you in advance!

I’m sorry but what exactly is Halal?

I’m sure there are halal offerings among McGill food services, and there are options outside McGill (really, downtown Montreal has all sorts of food). You could inquire with McGill food services, but it’s probably better to inquire with [McGill’s Muslim Student Association.](<a href=“Current Members – MSA McGill”>http://www.msamcgill.com/en/) They’ll probably be able to recommend the best places.

After first year, you go and find your own apartment (with roommates or not, in the McGill Ghetto or not). Again, MSAM should be able to help you with that (there are other student organizations and student services that could help too, but for your specific religious needs MSAM is probably the best choice).

Thank you :)
