I've been hearing a ton of rumors very recently that Haley Joel's coming to NYU this year. Anyone else hear anything like this? I'm so curious! :)

I recall hearing that too in the spring.

I really don't care too much, but if it's true, I'd like to touch base with him to try and get my screenplay picked up....

haha (10char)

screenplay? I'd want to get to know HIM. He seems so mysterious, I'd love to know what kind of person he is.

he sees dead people and pays it forward. there ya go.

:) very deep :)

yeah, well you guys are fans that are trying to curry up favor with him....i'd like to touch base for a business reason....do any of you know how hard it is to get a screenplay read, if you don't have an "in" with an insider?

not an inkling--good luck :)

if ur sincere, then thank you...

I am. :) You've already written an entire screenplay, at your age? Or is this a plan...? That's impressive.

oh, wow...i thought you were joking eji...haha...yea, good luck with that

eji: If you're looking to have your screenplay picked up, NYU's the place to be. Pretty much every professor in Tisch is a working professional, so you'll be able to pick up lots of pointers. :)

well actually....if any of you are film people....you will understand....i'm currently writing the treatment....and i hope to begin the screenplay in a few weeks, by the end of august...and thank you, but believe it or not, I'm a Sternie...not even a film major...but i hope to take several film electives>>>screenplay and the like ....when you're unemployed and don't need money....reading and/or writing are fun projects :)

your a pretty long way then from having a full length screenplay

so it seems ATLien, but I am not going the traditional treatment route....my treatment is a full length screenplay in prose, more or less, when the screenplay is fully written and revised...i'll refine my treatment for it to be presentable.....but i like to think i'm 4 months away...depending on the school work load, which should be light this first semester...

eji, you're not going to make any friends by trying to get an 'in' with NYU students who happen to be famous. They're at NYU to get a normal college experience, they don't want people approaching them because of who they know. If anything, that will turn them off completely. There are a ton of talented writers, actors, film makers at NYU. Just because you're writing a screenplay isn't going to make you stand out at NYU, I can tell you that.

ok matth, dont worry about me, you do ur thing, and i'll do mine...i'm sure they want fans coming up to them asking for an autograph, they'd rather have a convo about the business of film making rather than the fanfare...i assure you that

ej, I've been doing my thing at NYU for two years. I'm gonna be a junior in September. I can assure you that these kids who are famous don't want to be treated any differently than anyone else. One of my best friends is a drama major and she's been famous since she was very young. She's not impressed with people who want to meet her just because of her name. You're in for a surprise if you think all they want to do is talk to freshmen who are F/Tv majors about the 'business of film making'.

did you notice my use of the word "rather" and you misconstrued it as: "all" but regardless...let's drop it...i dont like arguing...very draining...let's just leave it at: you do your thing, and i'll do mine....this screenplay is stressing enough without this bickering...
