I am half Caucasian and half Thai, do you think being half Asian will diminish my chances at ivys etc? Or will they prefer half asians.
will not matter nearly as much as your grades/scores/personal statements
Just saying, affirmative action will be the least of your worries. If you think your race will really be a giant hurdle to apply to college, take a large step back and reevaluate your life.
If you’re half as good as you look in your profile picture, you’re in for USC.
^ The hell?
i do not think you should worry as much as some say! Your good accadimics play the major role as was posted earlier here!
Should have no bearing. Just portray yourself and your ethnic identity. Be true to your heritage
They prefer neither half nor full Asians. They prefer smart URMs.
I think you were trying to get some attention. Now that @iamjack fulfilled that for you, let’s see your relevant credentials (your GPA, scores…)for Ivys, if you are a serious contender?
Here’s an honest answer: it won’t make much difference. However, being multi-racial is probably slightly more interesting to admissions committees than otherwise, and there probably aren’t as many students with Thai background applying as those with other Asian backgrounds, so that is slightly more interesting as well. So you don’t need to worry about this at all. Identify yourself as multi-racial.

ACT: 31 (didn’t study)
Tons of extra curriculars w/leadership positions. And I wasn’t looking for attention I was just curious about the subject since I’ve read a lot of articles about how being Asian can be a disadvantage for applying to more selective colleges.
Thank you for all the feedback
For Ivys your Acadmics looks good! You need to improve your ACT to 33+. And as everybody said, you do not have to worry about your race! Just work on things which you have control over!
Not good for Ivys, I’m sorry let’s not raise her hope up. She has no AP in science or math, I only see AP bio. Maybe she should be aiming at lower tier.
The “didn’t study” part bother me more than the ACT 31. It is not bad to score ACT 31 while it is not that smart to take a test without studying.
Don’t worry about what you can’t control. (At least for the application - for social justice issues this advice does not apply.)
